We do trolley tours frequently when we travel because it gives us a fairly good and quick overview of the area we are visiting. We chose to do a combo tour with Old Savannah Tours because we had members in our group that like the historical and the more "Haunting" side of things. We thought this would be a fun and entertaining experience. Unfortunately it fell short in a number of areas.

The On / Off day tour was enjoyable and informative. Mr. Komedy was our tour guide and driver, and due to his entertaining nature it helped to keep us all engaged in the tour. He did his part in knowing the history of Savannah and answering any questions along the way. He did a great job!

The few characters that we met along the way (they get on the bus and tell you stories about their life) were somewhat mediocre. Some had better stories than others, but overall personally, I would have appreciated the history more than the drama. Some were more difficult to hear and understand than others and we were closer to the front of the bus. (F.Y.I. you will not see Forrest Gump on every ride, so don't expect it). Overall, the on / off tour was good for the purpose it is meant to serve which is getting some history and a better idea of locations and general layout of the city.

On to the Grave Encounters tour........This was very disappointing! It ended up being almost the same identical tour as the day tour with a few small exceptions. I enjoyed the day tour, but not enough to pay for it or see it twice in the same day. If you are selling tours it should be stated clearly that the history and tour locations will be identical to the day tour. I would NOT recommend doing a combo tour unless you require almost identical repetition.

One of the exceptions I mentioned above is the first character we encountered while waiting to start the tour. She appears to be a vagabond women who walks down the sidewalk and gets on the bus to give everyone a warning about what they are getting themselves into. She was AWESOME !!!! She came and left out of no where. She was still walking down the sidewalk when we pulled out. When she got on the bus I thought to myself now this is going to be fun!! I should have stayed in the parking lot with the vagabond lady.

The other exception is the stop at the Sorrel-Weed House. It was not a long stop but it did fit in with the idea of a "grave encounters" tour. This stuck with the theme and was a good fit for what the overall tour should have been focused around. I am pretty sure you can purchase these tickets and tour the house separately.

The rest of the grave encounters tour was VERY UNIMPRESSIVE. For a city that has so much "Haunted history" you would think there would be an unlimited amount of history and information that could be given. You would think that the bus might take you along a different route than the day bus since it is marked as a "Grave Encounters" tour? Nope, that didn't happen.

The tour guide was very mundane. He almost seemed as bored as the rest of us. Again the characters that got on the bus (other than the exception listed above) were all boring. They did attempt to put white makeup on their face to give a ghostly appearance, but overall, not a bit of fright or scare to them. We had our 7 yr. old and 9 yr. old with us and neither one of them were spooked in the least. The history given on the tour and the stops were essentially identical to the daytime on / off tour the only difference being that you can see more of the scenery during the day. I would not recommend doing this tour. It needs a major overhaul and someone with a little more imagination and knowledge to do it.

One last thing. The parking for grave encounters tour can also be confusing. Old Savannah Tours has multiple pick up and drop off locations. If you park in the Visitor Center across the street and down the stairs of the Martin Luther King address and your car is in parking lot after a certain time. You will be ticketed!

We got lucky and got a guide named Big E. He knew his stuff and was hilarious. Gave us a nice history tour and suggestions on good places to eat.

I always hesitate these tours, but this is the way to learn about the city in a short amount of time. Our drivers were fun and knowledgeable. The added characters at various stops certainly brightened the tour with entertainment and historical anecdotes. We would definitely recommend Old Savannah Tours .

Average for a bus tour in a touristy location. One driver was pretty rough around the edges. Other two more friendly. Performers at stops were good

We are so glad that you enjoyed touring with us, but are disappointed to hear that one of your tour guide was mediocre. This is well below the acceptable standard that we hold our tour guides to and is unacceptable. Thanks for you review, and we hope that you will join us again.

Peter is one of the most informed and has a great clear voice, the bus was kind of old and the shocks were poor but the things he covered was so interesting. Worth spending the money for the on/off transfer.
