We stayed here for two days in Savannah and glad we did. They have four designated spaces right out front for Veterans. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Thank you, Donna and Guillermo for welcoming us by name late in the afternoon of our first day. The rooms are large and nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed. The price was reasonable and included a hot breakfast. There is a very good free shuttle service in and around the historic district.
If we return to Savannah we would stay here again.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 309 near the elevator. It was very quiet. I believe the ground floor has accommodations for pets.

My husband and I arrived in Savannah on January 30th. We had booked a room at Comfort Suites six months in advance. The room was not ready when we got to the hotel at 11:30 a.m. We were issued a parking pass and told to take the hotel shuttle to the historic district and enjoy our day. We were told that the first room to become available would be ours and we could return any time after 2:30 p.m. We returned to the hotel at approximately 5 p.m. and were told that our reservation had been cancelled and the hotel was sold out. We couldn't believe it. We are senior citizens. My husband has hypertension and I suffer from migraines. The hotel said our credit card had been declined. Well, it turned out the expiration date on the card had changed from the time I made the reservation six months prior. If the first desk clerk had checked our card when we arrived at 11:30 this problem would have been avoided. Management knew we had arrived. They could have called or texted us and we would have immediately responded. The hotel's guarantee policy clearly states that a room will be held until 7 a.m. the morning following arrival date. Why was our card not run as soon as we arrived but then run later in the afternoon when we were not at the hotel but could have easily been contacted? We were left with nowhere to stay in a resort town on a Saturday night. We were faced with the prospect of a six hour drive home or scrambling to find another hotel. Luckily we were able to secure a room at the Marriott. Management at the Marriott were shocked by our story and said the treatment we received was very unprofessional. Due to extra expenses we had to incur staying elsewhere we were forced to cut our trip short by one day. Why did I wait a month before posting this review? As soon as we got home I wrote to Choice Hotels (the parent company). They replied saying they were sorry I wasn't 100% satisfied and they cc'd the hotel for clarification and appropriate action. Well, we never heard another word from Comfort Suites. We have traveled extensively and never experienced a situation like this. What can one say except the hotel has extremely unprofessional management!

Disappointed in the room. My wife always checks the mattresses for stains and such, she found some kind of stains in the seams of the mattress in our first room so we asked to be changed. Devon, the room clerk did not hesitate to change our room and was very apologetic. After being in our room we turned on the TV and discovered that there were only a few channels. We contacted Devon and he was able to contact the building maintenance personnel. It was determined that the box for the TV had to be reset so it was Devon to the rescue again. This motel needs a lot of TLC to bring it up to Comfort Inn standards. There is a parking fee of $10.00 per night for all guest and then to top it off, you pay, State tax, City tax, City occupancy fee and a Ga. State transportation fee.

While the hotel is a short distance from the historic district they provide a very convenient and efficient shuttle service. The hotel was very quiet and had everything you could possibly want. The breakfast was adequate but did not change during our 3 day stay. A downside of the breakfast area was that there was no flow to the small space. On a busy day folks were just bumping into each other trying to get their food. It was pretty amusing watching half awake folks interact! All of the staff was very polite and helpful.

We had a pleasant stay at the Comfort Suites Historic District. The room was clean and quite. The bed was very comfortable and had a good night sleep. The staff was friendly. I would stay here again if ever back in this area. The room is close enough to walk to the river and to the historical sites.
