Waterfront restaurants and shops galore. Very cool to walk around eat, drink and enjoy. Many pics to be taken there. Cobblestone streets and alleyways are awesome. Tours and boat rides available. Great area to visit for the whole family.

This street is lined with stores, hotels, and restaurants. I would suggest wearing tennis shoes, bringing a bottle of water, and a hat. The street is paved with ballast stone so be careful walking. And remember walking up hill puts you on the level with the parks.
The shops, eateries, and view of the river are nice, but the smell of rotting trash and runnoff from garbage detracted from the overall experience. The cobblestones and brickwork was picturesque, but somewhat dangerous to traverse.
If you do nothing else in Savannah be sure to go and experience the ambiance, views, history and food of River street. I came in for a business trip and thought it was perfect to walk around and experience Savannah. I will definitely come back to Savannah to get the full experience of this historic town.
Tons of places to shop or eat. Merchants are friendly. The walk down the river is peaceful. If you're a fan of alcohol, every other store is a bar. But it is still family friendly.
We spent a whole day exploring river street and all the shops and restaraunts it has to offer. Will definitely visit again!
