“They will spoil you!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2012

My business partner and I needed the closest hotel to The Charles Theater for the 48 Hour Film Project we attended with a lot of camera rig gear. The Brexton came up so we gave it a shot June 12th thru 14th 2012. Beautiful historic building with a complete renovation making it look brand new inside. We were met at the front door by Sales Manager Milton who checked us in and helped us with our gear. We had reserved a room with two double beds. The room was good size with a nice "bumpout alcove" with windows for north south and east views of the city . . .outstanding!!! The bathroom was good size and modern. The beds were comfy with lots of pillows. Our room had a refrigerator in it and a large widescreen TV. Individual thermostat was an unexpected pleasure for such an historic building, since we like to crank up the AC!

With just enough time for dinner before we had to be at the theater, Milton suggested a nice restaurant within two blocks and even provided us with an umbrella as it had started to rain, not gonna get that kind of service in a larger hotel. After dinner and in a big hurry (no time to call a taxi) while the rain continued to pour down, Milton once again came to the rescue with a driver and four door sedan . . .amazing! The next day we ran into Milton in the lobby and he played tour guide for us to help plan our day including the Inner Harbor, good places to eat and transportation . . .all on his day off, he was just stopping by for another reason and took his own personal time to help us out . . .WOW! We got stranded that night at the Theater Charles with all our gear, called the hotel just before midnight and they sent a taxi for us! Next day was checkout and our pre-arranged pick-up transportation was running extremely late with an ETA of 1:30pm, well after the 12:00pm checkout time. Paul, the General Manager, said "no problem at all" and we were able to keep our room until 1:30. The staff at the Hotel Brexton will spoil you. The renovation will amaze you. Anyone who does not enjoy their stay at this hotel is probably one of those people that you can't make happy no matter what you do.

Room Tip: Our room was 402 . . . good size . . .awesome view, especially at night!!!

Our very small room with a {comfortable} queen sized bed, a one sink bathroom, a little shower {no tub}, a broken chair, a cheezy old desk with bubbled finish, an air conditioner that never stopped gurgling- this is not a room shown on the Brexton website. Is internet access that costs $10 an amenity? Parking is free if you grab one of several street spaces in front of the hotel, otherwise.... There is one reading lamp on the right side of the bed. This hotel could probably boast the world's slowest and smallest elevator in the world. Which is how we discovered a very attractive spiral staircase nearby.
Everyone at the front desk was pleasant. Our tiny room was very clean. Otherwise, our stay was really disappointing.

Different strokes for different folks... Love the hotel! The management and staff are nice and professional. As with all things someone's not gonna like something about it. You can't please everybody. That's life... Keep it movin'...

The outside of the building is beautiful - it is a very interesting old brick building. The rooms are in an odd configuration and somewhat cramped.

The location isn't very good. It's not in a nice neighborhood and quite a walk from the inner harbor.

We had a Living Social deal which the manager, Paul Masai, did not want to honor - despite having had a phone call with him to confirm. I found him to be dishonest and very unpleasant to deal with.

Brexton, General Manager at Hotel Brexton, responded to this review, 7 June 2012
Thank you for staying with us and am sorry that you found me to be a bad manager just because I was not able to confirm a room for the weekend under the package due to the fact that I was sold out. I wish we were in a position to confirm each and every person under the package for a weekend of their choice. The vouchers are sold as being subject to availability and since we are in the business of having all our rooms sold, we have no reason to deny you a room under the package if it’s available. I know that it’s not easy to make everyone happy but we do our best to meet each and every guest needs and where we are not able to confirm a package room date we make recommendations of what we can confirm. I know that someone will be unhappy with the answer due to the fact that they have fixed dates but the reality is that we are sold out for that particular day and hence I become a bad person for not being able to confirm. Normally these are highly discounted coupons and we have a limit that we can take in a given day, they call for flexibility or reservations made well in advance as everybody holding the same vouchers are calling in to redeem them.
We highly appreciate the fact that we managed to confirm your reservation for an alternative date and we were very happy hosting you and hope that in future we can get another chance to host you.

We stayed at Hotel Brexton May 24 to May 27, 2012 and found our stay to be a wonderful experience thanks to the staff. The front desk staff Esther was helpful, pleasant and informative. The taxi driver for the Hotel who's name is Innocent was exceptionally helpful showing us the area and telling us some of the history of the area. The room was very nice. Thank you for a wonderful stay and meeting our needs.
