My business partner and I needed the closest hotel to The Charles Theater for the 48 Hour Film Project we attended with a lot of camera rig gear. The Brexton came up so we gave it a shot June 12th thru 14th 2012. Beautiful historic building with a complete renovation making it look brand new inside. We were met at the front door by Sales Manager Milton who checked us in and helped us with our gear. We had reserved a room with two double beds. The room was good size with a nice "bumpout alcove" with windows for north south and east views of the city . . .outstanding!!! The bathroom was good size and modern. The beds were comfy with lots of pillows. Our room had a refrigerator in it and a large widescreen TV. Individual thermostat was an unexpected pleasure for such an historic building, since we like to crank up the AC!
With just enough time for dinner before we had to be at the theater, Milton suggested a nice restaurant within two blocks and even provided us with an umbrella as it had started to rain, not gonna get that kind of service in a larger hotel. After dinner and in a big hurry (no time to call a taxi) while the rain continued to pour down, Milton once again came to the rescue with a driver and four door sedan . . .amazing! The next day we ran into Milton in the lobby and he played tour guide for us to help plan our day including the Inner Harbor, good places to eat and transportation . . .all on his day off, he was just stopping by for another reason and took his own personal time to help us out . . .WOW! We got stranded that night at the Theater Charles with all our gear, called the hotel just before midnight and they sent a taxi for us! Next day was checkout and our pre-arranged pick-up transportation was running extremely late with an ETA of 1:30pm, well after the 12:00pm checkout time. Paul, the General Manager, said "no problem at all" and we were able to keep our room until 1:30. The staff at the Hotel Brexton will spoil you. The renovation will amaze you. Anyone who does not enjoy their stay at this hotel is probably one of those people that you can't make happy no matter what you do.
