“What a find!”
Reviewed 21 March 2012

We had no idea this place existed, but found it on a list of things to do in Baltimore. What a great find! It's fascinating to see the gorgeous architecture, amazing artwork and beautiful furnishings. Our children, 9 and 11, just loved it with all the staircases, seemingly endless number of rooms, and a library to die for. The bathroom with the gold 'throne' is just too funny! It's a beautiful place and the docents are excellent - we highly recommend it.

By all means, take a tour of Evergreen and get on the mailing list for lectures/concerts.

“an unheralded gem in baltimore”
Reviewed 11 March 2012

this is a drive from downtown, past the jh university. it's reasonably priced with a free tour of a home which belonged to a wealthy diplomat's family who collected arts and furniture from around the globe. there were a number of unique aspects of the home itself as well. (surprises) our tour was almost two hours long and always fascinating.

“Well Worth the Visit!”
Reviewed 9 February 2012

The Evergreen Museum and Library is an undiscovered gem of 19th Century architecture. Owned by John Hopkins University, the Mansion houses outstanding collections of the Garrett Family of B&O Railroad fame. Evergreen's 48 opulent rooms hold over 50,000 pieces which were accumulated throughout the Garrett's residency from 1878 to 1952. Whether it is the rare book library, extensive Tiffany Collection, drawings by Degas and Picasso, Chinese porcelain, Japanese lacquerware and collectibles, a variety of paintings, and outstanding period furniture, everyone will find something of interest! The staff provides outstanding tours on the hour. The day we were there, only a few people had visited. If you are ever in the Baltimore area, it is well worth the time to experience Evergreen!

“One of Baltimore's true treasures.”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

I've been going here since my family randomly dropped in one day when I was in high school. I fell in love with it as a teenager and am still bringing friends and colleagues it is that cool. If you're visiting Baltimore (or a native who has never been), do yourself a favor. Check the website for tour information, then go! You will not be disappointed.

Also...a great spot for a first date if you're trying to either impress someone who loves art, history, architecture or travel or if you're trying to show that person you do!
