“comfortable and convenient”
Reviewed 10 April 2012

I stayed in Astoria for four days and three nights at the Hotel Elliott. It was undergoing renovations, so there was construction in the lobby and the adjacent ground floor space. Still, the room was comfortable, the location was central -- easy walking distance to most things in Astoria I wanted to visit -- and the staff were helpful when needed. The complimentary continental breakfast was so-so -- nothing to write home about, but they usually aren't. A nice place, and I would stay there again: there were several restaurants nearby that I didn't get a chance to try.

Thanks Trip Advisor for helping me to choose this historic hotel over a generic one. Quiet, free parking and GREAT LOCATION - we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. I loved the lobby and the original 1924 front desk! We stayed in a Deluxe King which is a basic room not a suite but we had a nice electric fireplace with a nice mantlepiece, a great bathroom with heated floors (no fancy tub but a gorgeous large, tiled shower.) The bed was very comfy, there were bathrobes, wi-fi and we were fortunate to get a river view. The roof top deck offered a spectacular view of the bridge and the city and we snapped a few photos even though it was pouring rain (it is April after all). The breakfast was adequate and included just about everything you could ask for in a light breakfast: various breads for toast, granola, cereal, yogurt, fruit, granola bars, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, juice. FYI the wine bar is only open on certain nights. Oh and all of the staff were wonderful.

Room Tip: Ask if a river view is available. Some of the suites have a jacuzzi tub. Ask for a 4th floor room si...

We were in town for the art walk and decided to stay right in the down town area. It was a good call. The wine bar in the basement was the perfect place to stock up on local information before starting the art walk.

My husband and I stayed here for one night this last weekend and were not disappointed. We arrived around 8:30 in the evening and the front desk lady was wonderful and friendly. She quickly gave us information on the hotel: where breakfast is, the beautiful view from the rooftop, the history of the hotel and what they were doing to renovate the hotel even more. My husband and I took the elevator up to the top (nice size for a hotel built in 1911) and checked out our room. We decided to explore the hotel a bit and went down to the basement to check out the breakfast area and wine bar. My husband and I are not drinkers so we asked where to find a milkshake in Astoria. The bartender (wine is only served here) and the front desk lady told us of the best places to go and gave us ideas of how to enjoy the night in the city. What GREAT staff!

The bed: the most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on in a hotel
The bathroom: clean and beautiful, heated tile floors & tiled shower
The room: nice flat screen TV (no DVD player), original art on the walls, dimming desk light, wall sconces for bed lights & did I mention Comfortable bed?!!
As to be expected with a hotel of this age: stairs are steep, you will need to take them to get to the rooftop view (as there is no elevator above floor 5) and the view is on level 6, some of the floors creak and you can hear people in the hallways and in their rooms (only when you are in the hall).
Continental Breakfast: Hard boiled eggs, various breads to toast, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, and I believe they have more but we came late to breakfast (30 minutes to the close).

Overall: We were not disappointed with this stay in any way! In fact if we could have stayed another night we would have gladly booked this hotel. If we come back to Astoria the Hotel Elliott will be the first place we stay.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 3rd floor near a stairwell and could hear the elevator and people walking in the ha...
