Owner description: Since opening in August 1988, the Blackhawk Museum has displayed classic automobiles and myriad exhibitions exemplifying art, technology and history. Local students, residents and international visitors enjoy educational presentations, cultural programs and volunteer opportunities. Since the beginning it has been home to the Automotive Gallery with over 55 vintage, classic, rare and sports automobiles on display. These automobiles are regarded as works of art and range from the dawn of the motoring age through the 1960's. In 2015, a new exhibition, The Spirit of the Old West opened, telling the story of the western frontier from the perspective of both the Native Americans and the settlers before, during and after the expansion west. The exhibition features authentic artifacts from the period, a large diorama depicting key historic moments, scenes of wildlife from the frontier and other elements that bring the past to life.

I can’t believe that we lived in the Bay Area most of our lives and never took in the Blackhawk Museum. We actually had to come back as tourists to see this very upscale (Is that a worn out term or what?) collection of automobiles.

The vehicles on display are some of the very finest available. The restorations are top notch and every detail was been seen to. The layout is an easy stroll through automotive history not only of American cars but many, many excellent European vehicles too.

Blackhawk doesn’t want to you to touch the cars but you can take all the pictures your digital camera card can hold. Many places do not allow photos so this is a picture taker’s paradise.

There is a Juke Box Museum attached that is a work in progress but very interesting. There are also some gas pumps from early in the automobile history these too were very nicely restored.

Located in Blackhawk Plaza, a collection of restaurants and shops, Blackhawk Museum is a must see if you are a “car” buff of any sort.

Very expensively done...Great if you like vintage cars...Nicely displayed. Pricey "museum" for the money.

The autos displayed here are almost art objects. No need to love cars to thoroughly enjoy this place. Even the small children were entranced by these cars from the golden age of design. I can't imagine not being thrilled by what this place has to offer. Well worth the trip to Danville.

Always a treat. Elegantly displayed fantastic historic cars. Have enjoyed it many times at night for dinner/dance occasions. Amust for out of town visators combined with the UC Berleley museum, a walk around the Plaza and a lunch at the Blackhawk Cafe outside in nice weather---you could be anywhere in the world other than this suburbia.
