Thank you for your review! We were very pleased to here that you enjoy your time with us. We are proud of this hotel. We offer a clean, comfortable room at a resonable rate. Our rooms are well appointed with all the extra goodies-hair dryer-iron and ironing board-coffee makers and all rooms have a refrigerator. You can't beat the location of the hotel. There is not an over abundance of parking in Gettysburg. Our free parking is always a plus for our guests! We hope that you can visit with us next year during the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. There will be many events to enjoy. Have a wonderful Summer. Hope to see you soon!!

Sincerely,

Our first reason for staying at the 1863 Inn of Gettysburg is its location. You can literally walk out the front door and easily reach East Cemetery Hill, Cemetery Hill, all in town points of interest, ghost tours, Jenny Wade House, and so much more. But beyond its location, it is a nice place to stay. We have stayed 3 times and have never had a bad experience. Front desk people are very nice and very helpful. There is something for everyone at the morning breakfast. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The last time we stayed we were bumped up to a King bed room with a jacuzzi bath and it was wonderful! I already recommend this place to my friends planning a visit to Gettysburg.

Room Tip: Rooms in the front have a good view of things but can be noisier at night. They do have indoor access rooms in the back of the hotel that are very quiet.

Traveled here with a group of teachers to the Gettysburg area. Not a good experience. Had to switch hotels the next day. Apparently the rooms in the front of the hotel were ok, but the rooms in the back had an odor, mine was one of them. Very drab looking when you walked in. Only a full size bed. Couldn't tell you the last hotel that I stayed in that had full size beds. Bathroom was clean.

Very disappointed based on on reviews on TripAdvisor.

Location is good. Most positive thing about it.

I do apologize for the fact that your group leader decided to disrupt your entire group for no reason. Apparently some of your group was familiar with Trip Advisor and before visiting our hotel read the reviews posted soon after we renovated these rooms. These rooms have been rented for about 3 months now and there is no "new" smell any longer. But I believe that the notion was already there that you would have an issue. We have filled several times in the course of those 3 months including two days before your arrival and not one complaint about any odor. I personally, along with 4 others employees and a General Manager from one of the other hotels in town, went to each room after your group leader moved the entire group and found nothing to warrent such a drastic measure. There is no odor and certainly nothing drab about them! These rooms are beautiful-new carpet, bedding, drapes and paint. As for the room having "only a full size bed"- most hotels offer 2 double beds or 1 king bed. Most visitors are very satisfied with the 2 double beds. Your group leader had visited our property before booking your visit and was delighted with her choice. She inspected the rooms with 2 double beds. She signed the contract. When I spoke to her the day that your group left town I explained that we found no odor. I could not understand why an entire group of 30 rooms was made to pack up and move. She mentioned to me that we would be hearing negative comments such as yours. I certainly do not like seeing such reviews. We take all reviews seriously. Every hotel receives both good and bad reviews. It is up to the reader to decide which ones to take to heart and which ones to take with a grain of salt. As I mentioned, we found no odor. There was absolutely no reason to move an entire group. It was a very extreme decision.

WE first styed here in 2006,then 2008 and last year in SEpt 2011,and have already booked our "SAME" room for May next year..Cant wait to go back to GB.The entire staff was great especially Rachael, who booked our room again for next May..If it wasnt such a long trip from Canada ,we'd probably take our 2 little cats with us lol...You would never know there were dogs staying there when we did, never heard anything after 11pm.We get a room at the back so we dont hear street noise...

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the back.Baltimore St can be noisy in summer

Hotel is in the heart of Gettysburg, with all the stores and resturants within walking distance. Had a nice room on the 2nd Flr -Front. Check in was a breeze with the friendly staff. The room was very clean with plenty of room. Bathroom is very spacious. Plenty of on site parking. Nice pool.

Room Tip: Ask for a front room; stay away from the ice machines.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. When we dropped the Holiday Inn franchise we realized that there may be some folks that would be a bit hesitant to stay at a "no name" property. We still offer all the extras that we did when we were a Holiday Inn plus more. We now provide our Free "Rise and Shine" Breakfast and we have a program for repeat customers that saves a bundle! Our guests are happy and that makes the staff happy! We hope that you will continue to visit with us. Next year there will be many exciting events planned for Gettysburg's 150th Anniversary celebration. Hope to see you then!
