I love the old tyme pictures and had the family pose for one while we were there. Dad and three little boys donned gray Confederate uniforms and Mom put on a dress and hat of the period. The little men held long rifles and General Dad a sword. A drum was placed in front of the three year old. They were told not to smile and just stare into the camera. The resulting picture done in sepia looked like something hanging in a museum. It's beautiful and eerie at the same time. I bought two and they hang in our living rooms.

Walking into his studio is a trip to the 1860s, The equipment that he uses is from the Civil War era. Both he and his wife are excellent and knowledgable. He explains everything and shows you how it is done. I was so impressed that I brought me friend done to have his tintype done too. It was a great experence.

We had the opportunity to visit the gallery and it was well worth it. The owner is so knowledgeable on the use and history of old tin type photography and showed us his old cameras and the process of developing the tin plates. The photographs on the wall are really interesting. We did not have time to get our picture taken but will definitely get one on our next trip to gettysburg.

We stopped here to have a old time photo taken in our period clothes and were not disappointed. Our photos turned out awesome. We are already making plans to have another taken.

This was such a unique opportunity to learn the historical process of 19th century photography and walk away with the results. Starting with a piece of tin, Rob Gibson explained the entire process, which culminated an hour later in a tintype picture of us in Civil War era garb. The gallery's walls are covered with Gibson's photos of everyone from average tourists to actors from some of the major movies about Gettysburg. The darkroom, basic camera, and studio background pieces are all authentic to the period. Most of all, the experience was FUN and added a new dimension to our Gettysburg visit. We made advance reservations, but another couple was fortunate to walk in and have Gibson photograph them after us. The basic price seemed reasonable, and additional copies in various forms are also available.
