Owner description: The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the Civil War's bloodiest battle and was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address".

The museum is conveniently located within the visitor's center, where you can arrange to have a tour of the battlefieds and buy tickets to the museum. The museum describes everything leading up to the Civil War, slavery, photos of the times etc. There is a very powerful movie with music so touching that nobody moved when it was finished. Everyone was humbled by this experience. Afterwards one can visit a 360 cyclorama painting of the Battle of Gettysburg. Within this building there is also a resourse center where you can use computers to do research , and an educational bookstore and giftshop.

“History stands still”
Reviewed 3 May 2012

Gettysburg has preserved its National Park, so the visitor can learn about that era of the Civil War. Where the battles took place. Where the dead were buried and even the place where Abraham Lincoln gave his famous address. Tremendous opportunity for any age.

“Excellent, enlightening - a sobering experience”
Reviewed 2 May 2012

Every citizen of this country should be required to visit this site to see the scope of, learn about and remember those who fought, were wounded and died to keep us ONE nation. Both Union and Confederate are honored here - as they should be. The visitor's center is set up in such a manner that it has various packages that can be purchased to tailor to anyone's taste. We chose to take advantage of all of the offerings. We purchased museum, cyclorama and a guided tour of the battlefield. We also purchased tickets to the Eisenhower farm. There is a wonderful gift shop with many books categorized to help you learn more about what occurred here. Words cannot express the awesome spector of suffering and horror endured by not only the combatants, but the town of Gettysburg as well. When you see the fields where so many valiantly sacrificed and in President Lincoln's words "gave their last measure of devotion" you will be stunned to silence. It is a massive graveyard as bodies are still coming to light. It rightly deserves a grateful nation's honor and deepest respect.
