Not your typical chain hotel. We stayed here on a college visit to the University of Pennsylvania, and the location was good, the room was beautiful and the bed was comfortable. f you're looking for charm and character, Penn's View Hotel is a great bet. A 5 floor European-style hotel in a registered historic building, this boutique establishment is full of charm. (That said, guests should expect the typical trademarks that accompany such sites: the floors are uneven in spots, the corridors are narrow, the elevator can be slow.) We enjoyed our stay, but it wouldn't be the place for everyone. It is a generally convenient location close enough to the old city, and paid parking is available in the adjacent lot.

We just returned from a weekend stay at the Penns View hotel in the Historic District of Philadelphia. This is not a chain hotel. Rather it is a 5 floor European styled hotel in a registered historic building. Our comfortable fifth floor room had a view of the bridge. There seems to be a small patio but we did not use it because of the cool weather. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. The continental style breakfast was satisfying. Your can make eggs to your specifics but be sure to use the egg cooker and follow the directions. There is a wine bar on the premises which we enjoyed. We did not order food in the restaurant.
The location is excellent, close to the 2nd avenue stop of the SEPTA transit system and overlooking Penns Landing. The historic district museums are a short walk away.
There is a wide variety of restaurants and interesting shops near the hotel.
I recommend the Penns View hotel and would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful and clean however there were a few misses. Every time the heater kicked on it made a loud banging sound which would wake you up. The smoke detector was hanging out of the ceiling and dangling from above as well. Overall a nice place with a major flaw.

The Penn's View Hotel is an Olde City charm. Almost on the waterfront. very cozy . ask for a room in the rear. Quiet , no highway noise. Breakfast included , very good . Great resturant on premises. Upscale. Really walk outside around the block you think you're in Europe. Antonio is a very cordial and welcoming receptionist and host Great price Great value

My husband and I stayed here the other night as a little getaway. Vey friendly staff And accommodating to our request to upgrade to a king rokm but there were issues in the room to be noted:
The toilet was constantly running. It flushed but was very loud. The floor was noticably dirty & you could tell it hadn't been vaccumed. There were contact lenses in one corner near a garbage can and plastic ends to clothing tags by the bed.
Im surprised for a beautufil hotel they didn't take the time to make sure the room was cleaned. Some other small notes:
-the matress and pillows were super soft and comfy but my husband likes firmer pillows so he didn't care for them.
-The walls are thin; I heard snoring from the next room all. night. Long....not good for light sleepers like myself.
Elevator took forever. We end up taking steps every time.
Would not stay here again for the money we paid.

Room Tip: Beautiful but not worth the $
