The building is very well decorated. You know you are in a place, sort of chalet, that works during the winter. Both bar and restaurant are very well maintained. Impeccable napkins. Tables very cosy. The waiters are very attentive and offer excellent advices on wine and food.
The menu offers quite a choice, we had a delicious mushroom soup. Fish (salmon) and meat (osso bucco) were very well served as well. The cheesecake we had as a dessert was freshly bakes. All this for a very reasonable price.

Quaint place with high end food at reasonable prices for unique items that you don't get other places. Food is fresh and lasting flavors with great presentation. Nice staff and great desert selections.

We enjoyed our anniversary dinner at The Restaurant and had a great time. While it is true that it feels like a classic older type of restaurant, that is the charm of it. I had the Beef Wellington which is a very difficult dish to get right and it was perfect. Gordon Ramsey would be proud. I have a garlic allergy and I am thrilled to report that I had no issues ordering, had plenty of items to choose from and left happy.

Remember you are in the Sierra's and not in LA or NY, so expect a more casually dressed patron who's just been hiking or camping all day.

Which makes the quality of this restaurant so much more enjoyable because you don't find many high-end and high-quality places in the area.

Loved it and will be back.

The restaurant has been there since 1959. Some of the menu items are stuck in the 70s, e.g. Beef Wellington and Bananas Foster. It's a rustic setting. Our table had a window overlooking a campsite with kids running around.

We started off with the Burgundy Escargot, failing to notice they came encroute. However, the pastry was tender and flaky, the escargot had a hint of garlic butter. We love the classic escargot swimming in garlic parsley butter where you can dip your French bread into it. This wasn't bad, just not our preference.

Next we had the Field Greens salad with smoke bacon and pickled vegetable relish. I didn't like it, too tart. The pickled vegetables over powered everything.

For the entree we had the short ribs. They were tender but very fatty with gristle.

It seemed like everything just missed. We wouldn't go back.

Great place! Already reviewed in the Convict Lake link. Fine dining, not a family restaurant. Menu is small and to the point. Very unusual selections and extremely well prepared
