It’s a beautiful place to visit. Kids enjoyed the hike and the view. I visited it in early spring... read more
So we chose the wrong day to visit this place. It was the 4th of July,2019 and it was full of people. We reached here by 2 in the noon and god, we have to drive in the woods to park our car( Parking is free though). It was a good 5 minutes’ walk to the main counter. A ticket is $16.5 (Weekends/Holidays) and $14.5 for Weekdays and $8.5 for Child. There is senior concession ( $13.5/$15.5 for Weekdays/Weekends). Basically, there are 3 types of trails, depends on how much adrenaline rush in you :P
Green trail - 15 minutes - if you just want to see the fall without climbing
Yellow Trail ( Most popular one- 45 minutes) - follow the trail for breathtaking views of both the top & bottom of the main falls as well Lower Gorge Falls, Upper Canyon.
Red Trail - for Hike lovers- you will enjoy this route. Its 2 miles through spectacular mountain scenery and past all 8 falls. 2-3 Hrs
Of course, we chose the Yellow trail. Colors code are embedded in trees which let you know that whether you are on right or wrong trail. In any trails, you would have to climb Lots and lots of stairs. There is a straight path too. This place is very well maintained throughout the entire park. Wooden Steps takes you to very close to a number of falls. On many occasions, you are able to view the falls from several angles. Photography can be very interesting at certain points and you can take some great photos. Get your tripod. At the end of the yellow trail, there is a creek where you can stand in the water. Water is just 1-2 feet high. It was very relaxing.
in addition to trek/hike to fall, park visitors can also walk through a maze, play with their kids in a number of interactive areas, and shop in two gift shops. One with very touristy stuff, and another one across the road, they have lovely a Native American exhibit and gift shop. There's a cafe, but it's a bit expensive, I believe. A small shop is also there where the history of this Jungle and Falls has been explained very well.
While going back in the car, I was discussing with my wife that "it is just a normal fall, nothing very amazing about it. But the way they have made the wooden stairs/path to the top & bottom of all 8 falls through woods and Jungle, makes it more interesting and fun and we would love to come back again."
Note: Wear the right shoes and bring water.
Went on 7-6-2019 and it was very crowded making the experience less enjoyable. Felt like I was at a amusement park. I hiked the red trail, which took about 1hr 45 min. The falls were nice and the tallest is where most people hung out. I thought it was a bit expensive bring your own food , shoes, ponchos etc. to save money.
Situated about 10 mins off the main road and well sign posted, costs about $20 each per entry, there are a number of various routes available around the falls, we followed the popular yellow track which took about 45 mins with lots of steps up and down but was not difficult, also has a cafe, shop, maze, playground and other lakes.
We stayed about 2 hours which was ample for us but it did look as though people planned to stay for the day.
Would recommend.
We tried to go on a Sunday morning. It was so crowded & there wasn't 1 parking spot to be found. We left and went to Raymondskill. The park ranger there told us to stay away on weekends. We never had a chance to return but so many other great hikes & waterfalls there was no need to.
We took our three granddaughters here as part of a three-day visit to the Poconos. This was the highlight! We enjoyed climbing down (and even up) the many stairs and taking photos of the falls (and selfies) on the platforms. Yeah, it's not Niagara, but you can't get more picturesque waterfalls within a hundred mile radius.
We recently visited Bushkill falls for a nice summer day sight seeing excursion. The fee they charge to view the falls/ enter the park is well worth it, with safe railings, and well built walk ways. The water falls were awesome, and there are multiple paths you can take ranging from fairly easy to advanced hiker.
It is worth noting that there are many flights of stairs. You will want to wear comfortable foot wear and be prepared to get in a lot of walking/ stepping.
After you see the falls, there are gift shops, ice cream stands, gem mining, playground, and a maze. Gem mining and the maze requires additional fees.
