I had a heirloom tomato salad that was great but too much for a salad. Bouilibase was average. Apple tart just so so. With a glass of wine it cost me $72 plus tip. Overpriced. The restaurant is a craftsman home and it is pretty.

During a week when the chef offered a special dinner menu celebrating the birthday of Julia Child, we stopped in for a casual lunch. Had we not been in something of a rush, we would surely not have been disappointed by the fixed-price honorary meal. Our quick lunch was very good. Both food and service were fine. The old homestead setting is architecturally interesting and is just a couple blocks from City Hall. Looking forward to a return so as to be more adventurous in our selections.

This was our first visit to 71 Palm, which was highly recommended by a family friend. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed an exceptional meal and very accommodating and attentive service. Moreover, the ambiance is great: we were able to enjoy a long rambling and leisurely dinner conversation without the loud and disturbing background noise that is increasingly common in so many restaurants.

In a word: GO!

We're in town from NYC area and had been to this restaurant 10 years ago when last in Ventura. So happy to.find it.again thanks.to.trip advisor since.we had.forgotten its name. It's.off.the.main street.in Ventura where all the other restaurants and shops are and worth seeking out.just around the.corner. We enjoyed the French onion soup and escargot the.pizzette and an excellent seafood with pasta dish. Service was.warm and.welcoming.

Let me begin with a praise of the highest kind. This restaurant is truly one of a kind classic French restaurant hidden by not being on Main street. What wonderful food we had and enjoyed. I highly recommend 71 Palm for anyone who really enjoys excellent food and wants something more for their culinary adventures.
