We didn't stay here at the Cliff House, although friends said they loved it, despite being old and funky! We did, however, enjoy a lovely lunch with a friend who lives nearby and took us here. We were able to look out over the ocean and watch the porpoises frolic in the water. The service was very good and we all enjoyed the same item (The Cobb Salad) which was very good!

Stopped by after hearing from camping neighbors or dining overlooking to ocean. Sat outside and enjoyed watching the dolphins go by as we enjoyed our wine. Had the special lamb shank which was fall off the bone and tender with great sauce. The seafood salad was also great. The scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly. Staff was friendly and efficient.

both times i had cobb salad for lunch and pork chops for dinner. the cobb salad tasted amazing and presentation was beautiful almost didn't want to eat it cause i didn't want to ruin the presentation although i did eat it in the end sitting outside with an amazing view of the ocean, palm trees, clear sky, and ahhhhhh, same with the pork chops, veggies and don't remember what else , and again had the option of sitting inside or outside and i chose outside! eating dinner in the evening with the moon shinning and the clear night sky, it was pretty dark, with candle on the table (no fragrance from candle which was great for me), and some christmasy type lights on the palm trees (in a non tacky way) provided just enough light! the beautify and relexed feel allowed me to leave my cell phone somewhere else, and again ahhhhh... so relaxing.. staff was great with questions, attentive, and seemed really nice, little pricey although there seemed to be something good for the budget traveler (like me) as well midrange and higher end folks.

The Shoals is a favorite place for us to take out of town friends for brunch. Several tables outdoors with a fantastic view of the ocean. Nice selection of entrees and desserts to select from the menu. Attentive wait staff. We've gone several times and always enjoy ourselves.

The Shoals Restaurant is tucked away inside of a small 60’s era lodge in Mussel Shoals halfway between Santa Barbara and Ventura on US 101.
Aside from the great wine selection and fantastic cuisine featuring local seafood specialties, the restaurant caters to vegetarians and vegans alike and can modify most anything on the menu to your liking.
One of the most unique characteristics of this charming place is the view. The diner has a choice of eating inside the tastefully appointed interior with table silencers and linen tablecloths, you can also choose to dine “al fresco” right out there where the waves of the Pacific meet the coastline.
Why would anyone want to eat indoors when the greatest show on earth is just steps away. If you reserve your table ahead of time, you can dine under one of their outdoor heaters of if not, they will bring you a blanket to keep you warm in the chilly evening air.
It’s definitely a slice of paradise.
