You can't beat a free museum! I went with very low expectations and was surprised at how interesting I found this place to be. It's got a little bit of a homemade vibe to so some of the exhibits but it's not the Smithsonian and I didn't expect it to be. I had no idea how deep the history of the border patrol was. I was unimpressed by the gift shop but wasn't exactly looking for a souvenir anyway. It seems to be targeting border patrol retirees and family. Kids will like the parts of the exhibits they can climb into and check out like a helicopter.

The museum covers the entire history of the Border Patrol starting in 1904. There are a lot of aircraft, cars, uniforms, photos, weapons and equipment used by the Border Patrol. Very interesting to see the development over the 100 plus year history of the Border Patrol. It takes about 2 hours if you want to examine everything carefully and read most of the signage. Definitely worth seeing if you have some spare time. It is maintained only by donations.

We spent 1 hour at the Border Patrol Museum. However, if you like to read absolutely everything, allow at least 30 minutes more. We did read a lot. We found this museum to be very interesting and learned a lot about the history of the Border Patrol. We recommend this stop to others if you happen to be visiting the El Paso area. The museum is free, but we left a donation since that allows for improvements and updates to the museum.
