Initially disappointed with the allocated room (no allowance had been made for our request for twin beds). Basic rooms are very small and as we were staying for 7 nights we had no option but to pay for an upgrade. This room was spacious and quiet - despite looking out onto a building site.
Reception responses were variable some staff could be quite off hand but others were more welcoming. This was also true of the concierge staff. House keeping was good and the breakfasts were more than adequate. Would stay again but only in the larger rooms.
Hotel position in New York is very good for all of the tourists spots and very close to the subway.

Room Tip: Pick the largest room you can afford.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Metro for 4 nights. I had booked a Premier Room as all the Contemporary Rooms were sold out and was pleased with the room we were allocated – on the 10th floor, with lots of wardrobe/draw space and a lovely new bathroom with huge walk in shower and a choice of three shower heads!!

The hotel is in a great location, just a couple of minutes’ walk from Macy’s. The free wifi came in very handy and we also used the business centre to print out some tickets – we were pleased to be able to use this service free of charge. It was a bit cold for the roof terrace while we were there but we went up and had a look anyway – there were great views of the Empire State Building and I’m sure it would be lovely to sit out there in the summer.

It was nice to have breakfast included in the price, and while it wasn’t anything special, the toast, croissants, cereal and yogurt set us up for the day. Like some previous reviewers, I wasn’t too happy about the usage of paper plates and plastic cutlery (so bad for the environment!), but that’s obviously not a big deal.

Housekeeping came every day and the room was always clean. We didn’t have a great deal of interaction with the staff, but those that we did talk to were friendly and helpful. The night before we left we asked the front desk to arrange a taxi for us for 5:45am and it was ready and waiting when we came downstairs the following morning.

I would highly recommend this hotel and haven’t a bad word to say about it. I’ll be looking forward to staying here again next time I travel to New York.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor to escape the street noise.

For a short break in Manhattan you really can't go wrong with this hotel, short walk to all the subway stations, a view of the Empire State Building from the roof terrace and Macy's at the end of the block.
The room was modern and clean, we were at the back of the hotel and it was really quiet at night. We had 2 queen beds and the hotel have thought of so many little extras, umbrellas in the wardrobe, iron and ironing board, free WIFI and breakfast included. The breakfast is self service but sufficent and the additional extra of complimentary tea and coffee throughout the day is a wonderful welcome on your return.
Matthew, the doorman was an absolute gem, so helpful and full of information. The Irish bar/restaurant opposite the hotel had a great menu and reasonably priced. Definitely worth staying at the Metro, would recommend.

We stayed here for our first time in NYC for four nights and what a location! Literally 1 minute from herald sq subway which is on a main line, Macy's which is a stones throw away and 5 minute walk up broadway to times sq. Perfect!
We previously read a few reviews on here stating the rooms were small. We may have got an upgrade without realising but our room was more than ample! A bit of wasted space to be honest! Room 1008. Very clean rooms, maids did a great job and the comfiest of beds!
We only had had breakfast at the hotel once which was nice, simple and quick. Teas, bagels etc. We eat at the Metro grill too which was great and reasonably priced.
Talk to Matthew the doorman/bellboy for resteraunt recommendations/shows etc. hats off to him!
We never got round to using the rooftop bar as we hardly stopped during our stay but we viewed it from the ESB as it is literally on top of the hotel metro, fantastic!
We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to NYC. My only gripe(and it's very small) was noise from the street below on two of the four nights due to party goers, bin men etc but then again it is a big city!! Go and experience it!!

This hotel is exactly where you want to be. You can walk to everything. We stayed 2 nights with a child. The breakfast was great did not have to spend any extra money. The room was very clean, housekeeping does a terrific job. Staff very friendly. To cold for the rooftop deck but we still went up to take a look. Great shower in the room felt safe and secure. I would like to return on my next trip. I recommend for people traveling with children.
