“A surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2011

Was very dubious of this two star hotel. I got a 12th floor room, king bed, small, clean, small bathroom, bad pillows, good mattress, bad old style bedspread, good TV, loud AC/heater, pedestrian breakfast (but there was a breakfast), weak coffee, for $159. on this almost holiday weekend. Who can argue with the value? I give it a B+ and would go back again.

The room was clean, the location is good, but at $250/night the service was pretty average. I accidentally double-booked myself into the hotel, and the manager wasn't interested in helping me out. Just repeated the "it's policy to charge you" line, regardless of the fact I still had a few nights to stay there, and that there were dozens of rooms available.

It seemed to be a cultural thing, as even asking for directions or advice from hotel staff was met with a shrug of the shoulders and a can't-be-bothered attitude.

Good hotel. Has a few rooms w minifrig and microwave - must request in advance. Rooms not too small by Manhattan standards. Some of the bathrooms very tiny - kept bumping into walls in "shower/tub combo". Windows can open which is nice for overheated Manhattan hotels. Breakfast downstairs is ordinary - prepackaged stuff, juices, hard boiled eggs if you get there early, bananas or oranges. Breakfast has set hours. No microwave available at other hours. Location - on lexington and 30th - so you are on east side. Down the block from a lot of Indian restaurants (some vegetarian) and some great spice shops. Definitely check it out. Can walk a few blocks to subway, but do not have good subway access to evening shows on west side -broadway, lincoln center, etc. - so plan on using a cab. If coming from Laguardia airport, midtown tunnel is fastest way. Have 10% discount for AAA or AARP members which they don't advertise. Have to show card when you check in or no discount. Hotel on corner of Lexington and 30th, so if avenue noise bothers you, request room on side street. Overall - I've stayed there before and I'd stay again. There are lots better and lots worse hotels in Manhattan. Nice thing - rooms are very clean, I've stayed there twice and never seen any bugs anywhere in hotel. Oh, and when you check in - the front desk says it doesn't have other rooms available, but they do - just go back down and say you don't want this room. Suddenly there are more rooms available.

Reasonable quality hotel for reasonable price in central NYC. Great location near metro for exploring NYC as very central, but only problem is that the immediate surrounding area doesn't have a lot of cafes or bars, so whilst it was perfect as a base for our first trip to explore NYC, next time I'll look for a more funky neighbourhood. OK rooms, small but clean. OK reception staff, breakfast was free but poor quality. From our room we could see both Empire State and Chrysler buildings, which was a nice touch. Not too noisy.

The Ramada Inn Eastside is in a renovated older building. The location is Lexington and East 30th Street. During rush hour you can walk one block to Third Ave to catch cabs to the west side. Good location. My room was on the small'ish side but very comfortable. The bed was really comfortable and the furnishings were updated, modern and very clean. Bathroom was very nice size. While it did not matter to me, the clost was midget sized. Hanging my knee length rain coat meant that the hem dragged on the floor. The staff was very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: As for a room away from elevator and not on the Lexington side to minimize street noise
