“Excellent Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2012

Stayed at The Wellington in New York at the start of May for a week. The location of this hotel is excellent a few blocks from Time Square and about a block from Central Park. However even better there is a subway right outside the hotel and if you buy a Metro ticket for a day or in our case a week - it's really good value - you have access to he whole of the New York Subway system on your doorstep.

On arrival we were allocated a room on the 4th floor overlooking a side street. The room itself was fine. a remodeled bathroom a good bed and nice quality linen and pillows and very clean. Unfortunately it's on a a very nosy street starting in the early hours, I think there is a rubbish depot across the street which starts to operate very early. We asked to move up to higher room and the front desk staff were very helpful and moved us to a much higher floor on the same street which was the same standard room but much much quieter. I couldn't fault the quality or the cleanness of this hotel.

The hotel is attached to a real New York type diner which was great for breakfast and a wonderfull bolt hole for dinner after a long hard days sightseeing - be warned the steaks are HUGE.

Overall I think the Wellington is a good quality hotel in an excellent location and by New York standards represents good value.

We had seven wonderful 7 nights here - where else could you be dinning and dancing in China town and Little Italy and return safely back in your hotel just by getting on the Subway.

Stay here and enjoy New York.

Room Tip: Get a Metro Card and use the Subway it is so close to the hotel and safe and you can use it to go an...

This was our first night in NYC and it was everything we needed. Facilities and room were great! All hotel rooms in America are small, but you're going to be outside exploring so you don't need so much room space!
It's a medium size hotel and I will definitely stay here again!

We stayed for a week at this hotel my room was on floor 22 my son's on 4th floor.
Booking in was uneventful and we were treated very well
The Bell boys are amazing and cater for your every need from carrying luggage, storing it, getting a cab etc. My room on the 22nd floor was light and bright, very effective air con and plenty big enough for one or two for that matter. The en suite clean with brilliant shower.
My sons room on the 4th floor had different layout, different air con system but still very nice.
He felt he perhaps picked up a bit more noise being lower down. The maid service was also very friendly. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day My son paid for Wi-Fi which was good.
There is a gift shop attached also accessible from the road as well Here you can book your shuttle, theatre tickets or whatever. The cafe also attached and also accessible from the road is very nice with a typical breakfast menu as well as meals served all day. All of the staff here are pleasant and attentive. We only had breakfast here so cannot comment other than the breakfasts were fine.

Room Tip: It is possible that the higher up the room is the quieter. Also don't forger to tip

my husband and i visited new york city at the begining of may ,we stayed at the wellington hotel which is in midtown manhattan the hotel is about a fifteen minute walk from time square and one block away from central park ,the hotel itself was comfortable and clean we had booked for a standard room but when arriving at the hotel found that they had upgraded us to a suite room which had more space and a little area with a fridge, sink,,and microwave but no plates cups etc the room was situated at the back of the hotel very quiet until the work started on the buildings next to the hotel ,which never bothered us as we were normally awake by then .the only issue we had was with the lifts very slow at getting to the floor on which we were on and on the last day the lift was out of order ,we were not told that there were other lifts and therefore waited about fifteen minutes for someone to take our cases and for us to take the other lift the staff were friendly and polite loads to do in new york we walked everywhere even though there are plenty of cabs we didnt want to miss a thing in the time we were there cant wait for our next trip

The location was perfect. Rooms and corridors were quite worn out, but the reception was great. Hotel is very expensive. We've had nice trip!
