This hotel has a superb location, just minutes from a subway station and Macy's! Its a great hotel, if your just looking for somewhere to sleep. The rooms are a bit dated but clean. There is only one lift for 12 floors of rooms, so if its busy, you can wait a while. The continental breakfast was satisfactory, just make sure you get up early in order to get a seat, as they don't allow you to "take out". The heating was far too hot and doesn't seem to adjust with the thermostat in the room. On our last day, the hotel boiler broke so there was no hot water or heating when we got up that morning but this was fixed within 2 hours (from the comments of the staff though, I do wonder if this is a regular occurence).
If your not expecting much from your hotel and its more the location that matters, this is a great hotel.

Very clean, friendly staff. This is an older hotel ideally situated close to Time Square and theatres surrounded by eateries of all classes. Breakfast is offered as part of the room rental. Our suggestion on the breakfast is to add some fruits along with the miserable looking apple which is the only fruit offered. There is only one small elevator that serves both guests and staff so be prepared to wait a while if the hotel is full. Parking across the street is offered at a discount for hotel guests.

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms that are accessible by the staircase.

Torturous beds - back/neck pain in the morning likely. The heating system shakes and roars like a rocket - difficult to sleep. The old, panting elevator totally inadequate (by the way, it shakes as it moves, and I don't think this is a good sign). The management has spent all the renovation budget money on the lobby and four busboys opening doors for you. I can open the door myself, thank you very much, and I don't care much about brass and marble in the reception area.

The location of the hotel is great, steps to broadway. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel room was dirty in general. Above the door frames there was an inch of dust. The walls were stained, both in the halls and in the room. The bathroom fan vent was also covered in a thick layer of dust. The room had an awful smell.

The breakfast is in a very small cafe which becomes extremely over-crowded. The food only consists of bagels and donuts. The elevator is very small, so small that in the evening or the morning expect to wait at least 30+ minutes before you can even step onto the elevator. (People on lower floors were hitting the up button and getting on the elevator such that when the elevator was at the 6th floor, going up, it was already full).

The mattress was in very poor condition.

I stayed in their basic room during December 2011. Rude staff at front desk. Rooms were too hot (in winter). Only one lift in the entire hotel, so you have to wait over 5 mins for it. Overpriced. Only gave 1 star based on its amazing location - close to Macys, 5th Avenue and Penn station. Lot's of restaurants nearby, located in Korean Way.
