Nice spacious room, including microwave oven..... A great base to explore New York. Very laid back and staff always friendly and cheerful. Would happily stay here again.

Recently stayed for 3 nights, 2 adults and two kids (12 and 9). We had a one bedroom unit with sofa bed and a spectacular view of the Empire State Building. It works so perfectly for us that this was our second stay at this property. The front desk staff is helpful, but not as knowledgeable about the neighborhood or the city as one would expect in a city hotel. As other reviews have noted, the room size is huge by NYC standards, and the pantry with refrigerator and sink is an added bonus, eliminating the need to go out for breakfast. Our 12 year old practically took up residence in the fantastic bathroom. The location is great, Lexington Ave between 37th and 38th, enabling us to walk over to 42nd street for the theater, 5th Avenue and Herald Square for shopping and 3rd Avenue to the restaurants.

Our experience at this hotel has been so good that I am staying at the Liason on Capital Hill in DC in June. I know that I will be in a great hotel in a great location

Room Tip: Be sure to request a room on a high floor facing across Lexington to have a view of the Empire State...

Stayed here with my wife and 13 year old daughter for a week in April. It lived up to the good reviews on Tripadvisor. We had a one bedroom suite on the top floor and it was huge by NYC standards, with really nice beds and furnishings.

Good service from the front desk. We had a couple of minor issues (air con was a bit too cold and one of the two tv sets wasn't working properly) they fixed both problems quickly and without any fuss. Very good location close to Grand Central and the subway. 3rd Avenue, the next street to the East is good for bars and restaurants. Over all good value and a great room.

The guy who delivered our bags to he room did mention that the top floors are less quiet when the rooftop bar is open in the summer months, but it was closed when we visited.

This hotel was amazing value for money by New York City standards. The location in Murray Hill is great for Empire State Building, Grand Central, 5th Ave shops, etc. There are also a whole host of really good places to eat just a block away on 3rd Avenue, though if you don't want to go out at all the hotel's own restaurant 'Rare' is worth a visit. Room service uses the same menu and came very quickly. The reception staff were friendly and helpful on arrival, giving me local maps and recommending places nearby to eat.
The room was a very good size, very clean and comfortable and included a sitting area with a sofa, bathroom quite large as well with toiletries, etc. Plenty of space for luggage and also a very easy to use safe.
I have travelled to New York many times, though this was my first as a woman alone and I can thoroughly recommend this hotel for its facilities, comfort and safe location.

My best friend and I stayed at the Affinia Shelburne in November. We chose it after reading all the great reviews and it did not disappoint. The room was small but really lovely and the bathroom was great. The location was great and we were able to walk everywhere. There are some great views of the Empire State Building from the rooftop and Grand Central Station is only a 10 minute walk away. There are some great diners nearby where we had breakfast every day and the bar attached to the hotel is also really nice.
The staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly.
I would recommend this hotel and would definitely go back.
