Overall good experience on well located boutique hotel with suite accommodation, very suitable for couples or small family of 3 like us.
Pros- great location, subway close, 10 minute walk to Lincoln centre, times square, rockefeller centre, fifth ave shops. Very close to dry-cleaning, restaurants, nail bars etc. Decor is boutique, old fashioned , very clean. Free breakfast and wifi included. We had a one bedroom suite. Very comfortable queen beds, small dark sitting room with comfortable sofa sleeper, nice bathroom and excellent spa bath. Noise not w problem away from 55th street. Elevators work fine, apparently were being fixed for 3 months hence others comments.
Cons- no outlook, dark rooms, 2 queens in main bedroom so a bit tight for space . Closet room sufficient. The breakfast is adequate, certainly saves money and time, but staff so rude that they all should be sacked. This restaurant is not the Blakely but allied to it and they should change as it reflects badly on them. Similarly room service food is limited and closes early. We found the lovely library entrance to be sadly lacking in warmth from staff for most of our 8 day stay, although the last 2 days we were suddenly noticed and assisted in a helpful way. The staff multitask and as there is no dedicated concierge or door opener or person to get taxi, if the is is important, maybe this is not the hotel for you.
Overall- excellent value for money. Perhaps make contact with Andreas or staff downstairs early on to be recognized and/ or have concierge advice. No need for lower room- elevators are fine and there may be a little more light in room.

Room Tip: A suite with a queen bed would provide more room if they have this layout

Comfy rooms, friendly and efficient staff, good breakfast, terrific location. However, do not, under any circumstances, let them put you in a room on the 2nd floor. At least 2, probably 3 or more, rooms on the 2nd floor have no daylight whatsoever because outside the windows are pipes, boxes, and engineering conduits which completely block out the light. In (slight) mitigation of this, the manager found us 2 different rooms on higher floors without too much problem.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Hotel. The location is excellent. The suite, consisting of a good size bedroom and a smaller "living room", were adequate although the "living room", which like the bedroom had a flat screen TV ,had a couch that was a pull out bed and not the most comfortable to sit on while watching TV. I found the living room dark since it had no outside window situate between the bedroom and the bathroom. The bathroom was neither large nor small but adequate and more than acceptable. If you are looking for "bling" this Hotel is not for you. . The lobby is very small and like the room it's decor is best described as traditional. The continental breakfast is nothing special consisting of juice, coffee, cereal, small muffins, bagels etc though you can order from a menu. Overall and given the prices of hotels in the city it's a good value.

Room Tip: away from the street

We stayed here for 4 nights mid-April, my first time in New York, my husband's umpteenth. It is certainly well-located for most tourists' needs, whether they be sighseeing, shopping, theatre/shows, dinner, opera.... We walked as far as downtown Greenwich, Soho and Chelsea, as well as the more attainable midtown locations of 5th Avenue, Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, the Met, Frick and the Lincoln Centre. Bike hire and subway connections a stone's throw from the hotel too if your feet aren't up to it! I found the lobby and common areas to be a little cramped and the decor was a touch too masculine, even dated for my taste, but it is very clean and the reception/concierge staff are friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean but not generously proportioned nor can you expect any good views; thankfully we were on the 8th floor so the traffic noise did not cause a problem. The rooms are not cheap but I imagine that the price is representative of similar hotels in such a location. Breakfast was fine, with a selection of fresh juices, yohurt, cereals, muffins, bagels and fresh fruit but anything beyond this is chargeable. I would happily recommend this, particularly for its location, but will personally try for something with more character next time!

Room Tip: Go for higher floors to avoid traffic noise and don't expect any views! You may have to pay more for more generous sizes, otherwise expect to trip over your partner occasionally...

This was our second stay at the Blakely and we were not disapointed. We had a two bed suite which turns out to be a great deal, large bedroom with two large, very comfortable beds (they seemed like Queens, not doubles), reading chair and TV. The second room has a large day bed, two chairs, TV, closet and access to a large, clean bathroom. For the money and the location, I haven't found a situation like this in New York (and we come twice a year and have tried many places). We usually do not use the breakfast as we have found, like other reviewers, the service is not friendly and we prefer to cross the street and have a quick bite there with great coffee and variety of food.
The subway stop is seconds away, times square is right around the corner, Rockerfeller Center is 10 minute walk. The only complaint we had was that only one (tiny) elevator was working while we were there, luckily we were on the 5th floor so could take the stairs. I'm assuming this isn't a regular occurance, best to ask as it would be an inconvenience to anyone with mobility issues. We were not on the street side so didn't have a view but it was very quiet for NYC (except we could hear the girls screaming for One Direction at The Today Show one morning!!)
We have recommended to many friends, it is great for a family or group of friends.
