“great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2012

The hotel was being remodeled but did not interfere with our vacation. It is right on boadway and 7th. Perfect location to the train. Right in the middle of all the excitement. Across the street from the tik discount center. The only thing we were not too happy with was the bathroom. The bathtub was dirty, we told the cleaning lady just before she was coming into our room and she said she would take care of it, but it was still dirty when we got back from our siteseeing. This is a 2 room suite with a small counter for the coffee and a sink, the water in the sink came out merky, pretty disgusting, the bathroom sink water was clear, and New York usually has the cleanest water. Do not know what was wrong with that sink water. But all in all I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms are 2 room suites. All rooms are from 4 and up. All rooms are fine as far as I can se...

Stayed here for 4 days with our 1 and 3 year old. We were on the 38th floor and it had great views of NYC and was very quite. Our 3 year old loved looking out the window at the M&M TV billboard. The hotel is a perfect location. Getting in and out of our car to go to and from the airport was almost difficult because of all the people and taxis. Check in was very easy. We arrived early, and got a room right away. They must have actually even looked at our reservation comments because within 30 minutes they brought us extra towels and a few bottles of water that i requested online. Being a gold member they gave us 2 free breakfasts, and our kids were free. Normally these were $28, and while good, not worth $28. It is an Embassy Suites style buffet. There is a McDonalds next to the hotel which is quick and easy for the kids, and a deli on every corner.
It was a great location with out 2 kids because while the 1 year old napped the other adult and 3 year old could go out and do stuff and still be close by. Waling distance to all the times square stuff and Rockerfeller center. We did walk to Central Park and FAO Schwartz one day, but decided to use the hop on hop off bus the next day since we already had a pass, and their stop is very close to the hotel.
Housekeeping was great most of the days. They gave us extra towels most of the time without asking which is always nice and they even folded our clothes. However one day we get back around 7pm and our kids are exhausted and we only had 3 towels and no washcloths. We immediately called for more towels and gave the kids a bath and waited a little while so we could get towels for ourselves. 90 minutes go by and still nothing so we decided to put the do not disturb sign out and put our kids down. Then the towels come knocking, but we dont want to go through our kids room to get them, but they keep knocking even with the do not disturb sign out. They then proceed to call us, and we tell them to just leave the towels outside.
The hotel while nice, was not fancy at all. It was just very normal in its furnishings.
Also, i noticed that the rate changes often for this hotel. We rebooked twice and ended up with a $349 rate Thurs-Sunday.

I selected this hotel after reading positive reviews, and we were not disappointed. The location is fantastic, right on Times Squre opposite the TKTS stand. We could walk anywhere, but there were a couple of subway stations close by too. Rooms were clean. Bathroom had 2 doors accessing it so it was spacious and easy to use. We had a King Suite with 1 king bed in the bedroom, and 1 sofa bed in the lounge room. Sofa bed was not OK for adults, matress was too thin, but for the kids it was ok. Security was also good because you need to show your room key before you can get into the lobby. If you want more space than just a normal hotel room, this is a great option.

Room Tip: Request high floor room to minimise street noise.

The Doubletree is right in the heart of Time Square, so it was a great location to see the sites there, and the hop-on/hop-off bus terminal is right around the corner. However, you need to know that the outside is blocked off by scaffolding so it is hard to even see the hotel from the street. The name of the hotel is located above the scaffolding, and so we really had to look hard to find it. Also, the check-in desk is on the third floor, so you walk inside and there is nothing there, just a bellhop to point you to the elevators perhaps if he isn't busy doing something else

The service at the desk is fast and friendly. We did have a couple of problems with the room--our refrigerator wasn't working when we arrived, and the service crew did respond promptly. The concierge was also very friendly and helpful.

The room itself was somewhat small. The king size bed in the bedroom takes up the entire space. The bed was comfortable though. However, my grandson slept in the sofabed, and he complained that it was quite uncomfortable with springs sticking into his side every time he rolled over.

The view was okay if you wanted to see the M&M store. Otherwise, we couldn't see much else of Time Square.

Overall, the stay was good but not great. I probably won't stay here again. The Westin has better views, and the Casablanca has more amenities for the price.

Room Tip: We had a king suite, and supposedly all of the king suites face Time Square. Our corner room didn...

Dear Lynda442,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our hotel. We apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay, but we are happy to hear that you issues were taken care of promptly. We also provide mattress topper upon request to make the sofa bed more comfortable. As for our room size, our standard room is bigger than most of hotel rooms in NYC as we are the all suite hotel in Times Square.

While you have many hotel choices in NYC, we sincerely hope you will consider staying with us again in the future. We would love an opportunity to welcome you back and deliver the level of service you have every right to expect from DoubleTree.

Kind Regards,

I stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and was motivated to return because of the great front desk
staff. When I stepped off the elevator, much to my delight, Daniel was there with his huge smile. Unfortunately, Daniel was busy with another guest, so I met Michael and now it is a toss up who is better. They are both fantastic. They welcome you to the hotel and NYC. They both go out of their way to ensure that all your needs are met in a professional manner. They know NYC so if you have any questions, just ask them.

I look forward in seeing them both on my next trip to NYC.

Great hat Daniel!!!

Also, when you walk in front doors off the street, a very pleasant welcome from LaVeane (Sp) greets you, even if you tired and jet legged. What a great way to start off any trip.
