This was our third stay at the Skyline. We like it because it is relatively inexpensive and we could walk to most attractions in the Theater district and Time Square. It is not a plush hotel, but we find it clean and adequate. The rooms are fairly large. The beds are comfortable. The staff was pretty friendly and check in was easy. We feel comfortable at this hotel. We would recommend it to others and would return again.

Stayed 3 nights at the Skyline. Room 503. We weren't in the rooms a lot, but it was a good home base for exploring. We got everywhere we wanted to by walking or taking the metro from the stop a few blocks away. Our room had two twins, and was on the back side (requested). There wasn't much too see from the window but preferred the quieter side. I have no serious complaints. It was similar to many European rooms I've stayed in, but slightly larger. The beds were comfortable. Rooms were a bit dated, but clean and in working order, except he first night here was no heat. But that problem was quickly addressed when we reported it. The second night, a loud, rowdy bunch of young men came in next door about 3am and apparently intended to keep partying. One call to the front desk and it was ended. Anywhere but New York, I'd have expected more amenities and a nicer room for the approx. $246/nt with taxes that we paid for two people. However, I have been told that is a good price for Manhattan. They really should at least have coffee pots in the rooms, or complimentary coffee in the lobby for that much, though. Thanks to TA reviews, we went to the Skyline deli across the street for coffee and breakfast. It's run by some very pleasant and efficient folks. No place to sit and eat there, though, so we just took our food back to the hotel. Also had one dinner at the hotel restaurant and found the food to be very good and no more expensive than anywhere else we ate. In dealing with the staff, everyone was very pleasant. I'd stay there again if I needed to go back to NY because of the location.

After reading a few negative reviews about this hotel, I began to wonder if they had stayed at the Skyline but in another dimension !!
We have just returned from a 4 night stay and were more than pleased with our accomodation.
Although the Skyline`s exterior has a motel look to it, once you enter the lobby, you feel that you are in a typical Downtown NY hotel.
Check-in was fast and courteous.
Our double queen sized bed room was on the 3rd floor in the rear 7 storey building.
Large, clean, quiet and comfortable (bed was great but pillows could be of higher quality). Reasonably modern decor with flat screen TV with ample channels.
No complaints about the bathroom either (other than plastic cups).
Room had mini-fridge and free safe but no coffee maker and you had to pay for internet/WIFI.
Hell`s Kitchen area is great for restaurants. One block over to 9th Ave. when there are dozens of fine establishments. Also a few blocks to 46th`s Theater District Restaurant Row.
Subway located at 50th St. and 8th. Ave. A 6-7 minute walk. Theater district the same distant.
We walked to Central Park and Greenwhich Village (both enjoyable long walks and we are both in our mid-60`s)
If want a drink before retiring the hotel has a lounge/restaurant or across the street to Druid`s Pub or On The Rocks (nice place for a chat and to listen to jazz C.D.`s).
Hell`s Kitchen area might not be Park Ave. but we felt safe and enjoyed being in a locals neighborhood.
Our room rate was $190/nite and I understand parking is quite inexpensive for NY.
We didn`t check out the pool or gym.
Thinking back at our stay, we both agreed that Skyline should be upgraded from it`s 3 Star rating and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: Try to get a Premium Room in the rear building.

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in.

We paid $330 per night for 15 nights and everything was unacceptable. Everything was so outdated, I felt like had gone back in time to the 70’s. We could have stayed in much cheaper and nicer places than this hotel. It really ruined our first trip to NYC below is why.

- I didn't feel comfortable walking on the carpet without shoes on.
- The sheets on the bed would come off during the night leaving you to sleep on the
bare mattress.
- The cleaning staff would come into your room at 6am even if you had a ‘do not disturb’
sign on your door.
- The pool looked like it had some sort of disease floating in it.
- The door to your hotel room could easily be broken into as it was very flimsy.
- They do not offer free Wi-Fi, which almost every hotel has (I have stayed in cheaper
places and they are more than happy to give you a Wi-Fi password for free).
- Every time we got into the lift I felt like it was going to break down, they didn’t seem
very stable.
- Their security was terrible, they let anyone go up to the hotel rooms as you don’t have to
swipe your card in the lift. One night at 3am there was a large group of people having a
party in the room next to ours and the security apparently couldn't do anything but tell
them to keep the noise down.
- We originally were given a room on the 4th floor (there is a total of 7 floors I think) and as
we were paying $330 a night I expected a little more, all they could do was move us to the
5th floor - same damp room just a tiny bit higher.
- Most hotels take your credit card details in case of any damages well this hotel actually
takes the money off your card. Their computer system had a glitch and charged us an
extra $200 ontop of the $400 they already took for the room change which they couldn't
refund to me until the end of our trip, therefore leaving me with no money on my travel
card for 5 days.

Only good thing about this hotel is that its right near all the good food on 9th Street and short walk to the peirs and Times Square.

Point of the story is do you research before you book your hotel and PLEASE DO NOT STAY here otherwise you will be guaranteed to have a really bad time.

Room Tip: Do not stay here.

The hotel was extremely clean and looked to have been recently refurbished with new carpet and wall paper. The rooms (our party had two) were standard size for any midprice hotel/motel chain (Holiday Inn, Clarion, Ramada, etc.), as were the bathrooms. There was no visible mold in either bathroom and no peeling wallpaper. The pool was pristine, and there was a complimentary breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. The subway station was one short block away, as were Starbucks and numerous donut shops and small restaurants. Five blocks from the heart of Times Square. Will definitely stay here again. Parking is on the premises by valet only for $10/night.

Room Tip: No "view" to speak of, but ask for a room overlooking the side street or the back. The fr...
