“Skyline Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2012

The hotel was extremely clean and looked to have been recently refurbished with new carpet and wall paper. The rooms (our party had two) were standard size for any midprice hotel/motel chain (Holiday Inn, Clarion, Ramada, etc.), as were the bathrooms. There was no visible mold in either bathroom and no peeling wallpaper. The pool was pristine, and there was a complimentary breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. The subway station was one short block away, as were Starbucks and numerous donut shops and small restaurants. Five blocks from the heart of Times Square. Will definitely stay here again. Parking is on the premises by valet only for $10/night.

Room Tip: No "view" to speak of, but ask for a room overlooking the side street or the back. The fr...

This is not a first class hotel, but it's proper and the room perfectly clean, My wife appreciated the bath room that seems to be new and trust me before she is happy that needs to be crystal clear. The room and bed is very good. The staff pleasant, except the two old person at the reception that were a little bit rude.

The location is ok and calm, no so far from central park and 5th avenue and at 800m from time square.

We don't use the pool at the top, seems to be very, old a refresh should be necessary.

But you will have for your money.

I hate traveling to NYC because I don't like the "boutique" hotels. I like large rooms. I had a suite with 2 of the most comfortable King beds with fantastic pillows.

You can tell that it has been remodeled recently. Because I had a suite I thought I would have had a full size fridge but it was only a small one, but it worked out OK. We had a knock in our airconditioner but it was fixed immediately.

The staff was very accomodating. I had an issue with my bill and they took care of in a timely fashion.

I will definately stay there again!

Room Tip: Get the suite if you like large rooms!

We stayed here as a family of four on our first visit to New York and it was a perfect base from which to explore. OK it's not super luxurious, but all we wanted was a clean comfy base to return to at the end of a long day exploring!! That is exactly what we got...the room itself, well it was a bit rough around the edges in places, but the housekeeping staff did a great job, even changing the towels daily which a lot of hotels don't do any more. The beds were really comfortable and the shower was powerful and always hot...what more do you need??? OK there is just one thing that would be appreciated...tea and coffee making facilities!!
Location was brilliant..a few minutes walk from the vast array of restaurants that Hell's Kitchen has to offer and only a 10 minute walk to Time Square and the subway. Over the road was the Skyline Deli where there was always service with a smile and their European Flatbreads were gorgeous!!
All in all, no complaints..we just had a standard room and I could see no reason not to return and hopefully one day we will.

The Skyline is only a 10 min walk from Times Square and so a good base from which to explore New York. The room decor is fairly basic and dated but very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly but not over bearing at all.
