We stayed here as a family of four on our first visit to New York and it was a perfect base from which to explore. OK it's not super luxurious, but all we wanted was a clean comfy base to return to at the end of a long day exploring!! That is exactly what we got...the room itself, well it was a bit rough around the edges in places, but the housekeeping staff did a great job, even changing the towels daily which a lot of hotels don't do any more. The beds were really comfortable and the shower was powerful and always hot...what more do you need??? OK there is just one thing that would be appreciated...tea and coffee making facilities!!
Location was brilliant..a few minutes walk from the vast array of restaurants that Hell's Kitchen has to offer and only a 10 minute walk to Time Square and the subway. Over the road was the Skyline Deli where there was always service with a smile and their European Flatbreads were gorgeous!!
All in all, no complaints..we just had a standard room and I could see no reason not to return and hopefully one day we will.

The Skyline is only a 10 min walk from Times Square and so a good base from which to explore New York. The room decor is fairly basic and dated but very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly but not over bearing at all.

I had to book hotels for our stay in NYC on short notice. Thus, the cheapest but seemingly decent enough place that was still available was the Skyline. It's a very basic, no-frills type of hotel. I think the most extravagant service it had to offer was a bellhop, compared to other "budget" places where guests are made to haul luggage to their rooms by themselves.

As a family of three, we booked a "Double-Double" room. It was apparent just from the hallway that our room was old. The television usually turned off by itself while we watched a show. The toilet was small. Really, really small. The toilet bowl almost touches the tub. In the night, we heard sirens blaring and people shouting from the streets. The full NYC experience, I think. Despite these, our room provided what we needed.

After exploring the hotel (there's really not much to explore), we realized that out room was in the old wing. Double-Double and Twin rooms are in an older part of the hotel. Go past the vending machines on the old wing and you'll notice that the corridor widens, the carpeting gets prettier, and that the lighting gets brighter. Not to mention the faster, non-creaky, and double door elevators. The end result looks like a different hotel altogether. If you're willing to shell out a bit more, get the more spacious Queen-Queen or King rooms to stay in the better part of the Skyline.

The Skyline Hotel's strongest point (and redeeming quality) is undoubtedly its location. If one has the stamina for it, he can even make a trip to Fifth Avenue on foot and watch the environment change drastically. Times Square is a 10 minute walk away. Walk a few blocks and you'll end up right on Restaurant Row - which is exactly that. The Skyline does not have a laundry facility, but you can take your pick from the numerous laundromats within the district. It's deli/convenience store city along 10th Avenue too, so there's no need to worry at all. If you haven't been to NYC yet, the area might seem daunting upon arrival (as it was for my family and I), but once you get oriented with the strategic location of this hotel, you'll relish in its proximity to some NYC attractions.

We stayed here from 12/4-15/4. It was a birthday gift from my partner. We stayed in room 420 on the 10th avenue side. We knew as soon as we checked in, the customer service was lacking as the receptionist was unhelpful and uninterested, no hello how are you, how was your flight etc, just gave us the keys and quite literally walked off. The hotel is situated on the corner of 49th and 10th. We called the receptionist to ask for the number for The Palm which is on 50th and 8th, we had to spell the name of the place to her, she then told us she was busy and would call us back. She then called us back and gave us the number for a restaurant in Tennessee called the palmer! We then had to purchase wifi and get the number ourselves to make a reservation.
The decor in the hotel room was dated, the bathroom was old and worn, the beds and bedding were comfortable and clean. The air con wasnt working in the room so we slept with the window open and it was very noisy on 10th, so sleeping was difficult. The restaurant/bar attached to the hotel was only open on the Friday 13th, the breakfast was 19 dollars and was really nice, it was closed for an event for the following 3 days.
The location of the hotel is very good, it's pretty central with Times Square a few blocks east, central park 10 blocks north etc, and lots of really nice places to eat and drink.
If your looking for a place to stay, this is a good place to consider, if your looking for a hotel that will cater for your needs and be an experience of New York in itself, I would choose a different hotel. I suppose we were the latter, although I believe a lot of the issues at this hotel are just common courtesy.

I stayed for 2nights this past weekend. I wanted a hotel with a pool, in Manhattan that was affordable.. This was it. Parking on site was very convenient, but no in and out. The hotel vouchered my ticket for one day ($10), but when I left and came back, I had to pay the parking directly..at $33..which is what you would expect.

Great location for traveling with a young child.. Hell's Kitchen playground kiddie corner from park..was fantastic!..
The downside.. NO COFFEE in the house!.. So I don't expect there to be a coffee pot in all guest rooms, but I sure am happy when there is one. Not one, so ok.. I call the front desk to ask if there is coffee in the lobby.. no coffee in the lobby..ok.. so is there room service? no room service.. restaurant is closed for repair..try the diner around the corner.." Are you serious!!?.. Would it really be that difficult to offer a complimentary cup of coffee to your guest who just spent $500 with you!!??.. Here's a word to learn.. HOSPITALITY..you know, like they have upstate. A simple cup of coffee would have made all the difference. So on to the indoor pool.. They keep it super warm, like 82 degrees..which is lovely.. but then when you get out you smell like a wet dog.. I kid you not.. I probably would have overlooked that but I was so ticked off about the coffee, it soured my impression. Housekeeper was very nice and you could tell that she was a hard working New Yorker!

Room Tip: We stayed on the 5th floor.. Ice is on 6th and 8th.. pool is in the penthouse.. elevators run pretty...
