“Great location, clean...but I could not have been more annoyed.”
Reviewed 1 April 2012

This is a nice looking hotel in a good neighborhood. Safeway is right across the street. Very clean, a wee bit dated, but still very far ahead of others in this area and price range. I loved the huge suite...though was not real crazy about the huge price tag that came with it. But I knew that going in. On the plus side, the location cannot be beat. And the room is very well sized and had two t.v.s and two separate living spaces. I also thought the shower pressure was great and always had hot water. HOWEVER...I know this might sound nit-picky, but I never asked for anything during the entire stay except two wake up calls. I even skipped maid service, as I really didn't see the point. However, I had a very important meeting to get to while there, so called the front desk to schedule a wake-up call for 7:30 a.m. They repeated the time back to me, so not sure how they still ended up blowing it. Next morning...I got the wake up call at 8:30 a.m....an hour later than the time scheduled. Needless to say, I was late for my meeting and kind of felt 'panicked' for the rest of the day. It really ruined my last day in NYC and I honestly think that is an unforgivable mistake for a hotel asking for so much $$. Good grief...how could they screw up something so simple? And even then...not so much as an apology from staff or management. I would never stay here again, as a result.

Room Tip: Book above the 8th floor for a view unless you don't mind staring at the back of a brick buildin...

My family stayed at the Hotel Beacon in a one bedroom suite while spending a week in NYC. It is in a great location, close to the 72nd St. subway and Central Park. The suite was clean, sufficiently roomy, and, despite what I had heard about NYC, the nights were very quiet. There arent a lot of extras (pool, exercise room) on site, but in a city like New York, who needs them? It is a walking city, which gave us plenty of exercise. We would not hesitate to stay at the Beacon again. Bonus: The Fairway grocery store is right across the street.

When we can get into the Beacon, we always stay here. Not a fancy hotel but in a great upscale neighborhood. One bedroom suites are unusually spacious for New York. Staff is friendly. Neighborhood is away from the bustle of midtown but one block from the 73 rd street subway and in the heart of the lovely upper west side.Rates are reasonable for Manhattan. On
Site Laundry and Coffee Shop. We have stayed in many places in Manhattan and this hotel is a find.

I recently stayed at the Hotel Beacon after seeing a show at Lincoln Center. It is in a great NYC location, close to the subways, shopping and the park. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite on the 14th floor. It was very clean and unbelievably quiet. I used to live in Manhattan and I have never had a better night's sleep than I had at this hotel. There was a great kitchenette (fridge, microwave, stove, coffee maker) if you needed to cook a meal there.
Also, the people at the front desk were always very nice, Mary, especially. She helped me print show tickets in a pinch which was extremely helpful.
I wouldnt hesitate staying here again and recommending it to anyone.
