Stayed at the Wolcott from 29th Dec 2011 to 2nd Jan 2012. Spacious, clean and friendly front desk staff. (Who needs a concierge anyway.) Perfect location just around the corner from the Empire State Building and ten minute walk to Time Square. Considering we were there for New Year's Eve it was a very quiet room. Very reasonably priced and included muffins and coffee in the foyer in the morning. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

The Wolcott Hotel is dated and bit rough around the edges, but for the price it is hard to beat. We checked in with no trouble and the room was spacious. The location is right near Madison Square Garden and the Murray Hill area which makes it great. The price is why you stay here. Always a good price for NYC and close to the Megabus bus stops. We literally walked from the Megabus to the hotel in 5 minutes. Couldn't have been easier.

Stayed at the Wolcott a couple of times because it suited our budget and we wouldn’t have gone back if it wasn't clean and in a great location just off 5th Ave. The two lifts are very slow and it appears that once you're room is on a floor above the 6ht floor you have problem with your shower's temperature and pressure. On our first trip it was a matter of get in and out quickly for fear of scolding yourself or freezing, the earlier the better because once others started waking up there was too much pressure on their system. We went back the second time due to cost and location, despite the water issues - we had those tricks down pat. However on the second stay they put us neat a stairwell which was not only a fire exit but a connection to other rooms - it was incredibly noisy with the door slamming shut frequently so we were moved to the second floor in a quieter room and this is when we really noticed how fabulous the water pressure and temperature was on the lower levels at any time of the day. All in all if you're on a budget and not fussed about the old decor it was clean and accessible - just ask for a low floor!

Room Tip: Request a large room on a lower level to ensure good qaulity shower water pressure and temperature. Rooms otherwise can be fairly small.

great location!
a bit old, a little noisy heating and i think i felt it like a 3 star hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a double bed because the twin size is terrible!

We stayed 12-16 Jan 2012 and we were impressed by hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly when we arrived we were booked into a twin room so called reception and they changed straight away. Had couple of problems with safe in room and again sorted within minutes. Ideal location just round corner from Empire State and the tube station. We found getting around no problem at all. We asked for directions and Michael on Reception was very helpful and pointed us in right direction. The rooms them selfs are small which i understand is normal in New York the bed was great very comfy the shower was good too and always hot water. May need decorating but to be honest didnt spend any time in room really. My only complaint would be no tea/coffee making facititys in room :( but dunking donuts across road so got tea from there. The tea and coffee in morning with muffins are free and lovely.
The hotel is nice inside pity the old ball room is no longer there as looked lovely on the photos.
Overall we had great time even though was very cold but hey ho it was january.
Would stay again and would recommend to others.
