I would like to express my disappointment about the customer service we received on Thursday 12th September.
It was our wedding day and we chose to go to Buddakan for our celebration, however it was not the experience that we wanted.
On arrival we were greeted but not congratulated by the reception staff, considering we were in our wedding outfits, I believe it would just be good manners to congratulate us, as I had put a note on the reservation explaining it was our wedding day.
Secondly we placed a drinks order at the bar and the diet Coca Cola didn’t taste as it should so we asked for a replacement and settled the bill with a tip, the bar maid then rushed over to tell us that we hadn’t covered the bill for another cocktail which we hadn’t ordered, we simply wanted another Diet Coke! This was embarrassing and frustrating which was unnecessary.
After being seated, we were given the menus and given time to decide on our orders, after deciding we were handed an alternative menu which was a set menu option, and told this was ‘because we were a group of 4 and this was available to us’ but we had already decided on our order by this time.
Our meal was lovely, so compliments to the chef!!!!
We had our wedding cake brought to us which had been kept in the fridge so that a positive and it did have candles which was a nice touch.
Following this we received the bill which came to around $390, I paid cash and left a $50 tip which was collected by the lady who brought the cake to our table and still at this point, no one had congratulated us apart from the guests seated in and around the restaurant.
We then left without eating our cake and made our way up the stairs to the reception and we were then asked what the reservation name was by a lady who then congratulated us.
A man came over and asked if there was an issue with payment, which we were confused about, and we said we weren’t sure, he then asked if my card gone through ok, and I informed him that we paid cash! He then radioed through to someone whilst we waited and then said we were fine to leave….
We were absolutely horrified!!!! I felt like a criminal.
The only good thing about my experience at Buddakan yesterday was the food!!!
This is my second visit and I chose Buddakan as part of my wedding because I had such a lovely time previously.
I would like you to give this feedback to your employees as I think it’s important that they give each customer the best experience possible, especially if it’s the biggest day of their lives.
I won’t be returning to Buddakan in the future!
