Have visited all the observation decks in the City and this is by far the best. My advice would be to go and buy your tickets the day before you want to view and book an early slot. You can avoid the Rather long crowds that build up throughout the day. An 8 o’clock slot if you can

Was in a dilemma as to whether to do The Rock or Empire State Building. The Rock is a fairly unremarkable building but the advantage over the the Empire State Building is that you can see the Empire State Building from The Rock and not missing anything by not seeing the Rockefeller Building in your panoramic view. (If that's not too confusing!) Were able to book tickets for @ 1hr later and the view is superb. Not too packed to get a good vantage point and staff are courteous and helpful. Would highly recommend.

Make sure you book in advance if you want to visit the Observation Deck at a particular time. We elected to go at sunset. It was worth seeing the city skyline in daylight and then watch all the city lights come on.

Signage I felt was poor as you approach and arrive at the building as to where to go for tickets.

We arrived at about 16:30 followed the crowds to the ticket office but after queuing was told that they were full and no longer selling tickets for that day. Again a screen/sign outside indicated this would have been helpful and could easily be automated as a countdown for tickets still available for that day a lot of unhappy tired people we will come back but with vip tickets bought online.

Lobby of the building is impressive and the staff we did speak to very Loire and helpful.

Despite the frustration looking forward to coming back. Assume it was the clear weather and approaching sunset that made it so busy at the time that they ran out of availability.

You can’t miss this out if visiting NYC. Epic views. We went at sunset and it was beautiful.

We booked in advance online. When we turned up the queue to buy tickets at the desk was huge. Thankfully we could go straight up as we had pre-booked. If you do go at sunset then expect it to be very busy up there
