So lovely to walk through a busy part of a city but not have to deal with traffic, lights, and so on.

Loved this walk along the old rail line. I would recommend this as a must while your in NYC and it’s free. You can relax and enjoy the city in a calmer way than the hustle and bustle of the busy streets. Plenty of opportunities to descend in to different areas along the way if you want to explore them further.

This walk was not open the last time we visited NYC and it’s a fabulous addition to the city. I can’t wait to come back and do it again when the plants are more established. Great for kids, teenagers and adults alike. It was even a highlight of our trip for the hard to please 17 year old who loved seeing ‘real’ NYC away from the usual sights. It’s windy up there so wear a hat on cold days! Half way along I realised how much I was enjoying walking without stopping every hundred yards at a zebra crossing - a bonus respite!

We walked the entire length of the Highline from W34th Street to Gansevoort St. It was a very cool thing to do, we stopped half way and walked down to a little corner bar called Death Ave and then finished off at a wonderful Mexican restaurant Dos Cominos. Best way to spend an afternoon. Will be a great place to visit in Summer when all the gardens are in bloom.

Definitely a must walk in Manhattan. Very nice walking area, dress well if windy and cold. Try also a night walk.
