“Great hotel, fantastic location”
Reviewed 12 July 2012

We have just spent 5 days here. We are very pleased with the hotel and the people working there. Especially the concierges was very helpful suggesting resturants and booking tables. We had originally reserved an executive suite, but were upgraded to a wonderful liberty suite, with stunning views over the statue of liberty and ellis island. If you are staying in this hotel, I would strongly recommend paying for a room with a statue of liberty view, the view is simply stunning. Breakfast was expensive and not very impressive, but you can get breakfast from a deli one block away. Food there was great and good value! We had dinner at the restaurant one evening, very good food. Good location for wall street, ground zero and statue of liberty cruise. Everywhere else we took taxis, for 15-20 dollars you would be at central park.
No free wi-fi, which I find annoying, and very expensive internet and printing at the business center.
If I ever go back to NY, I will stay here again!

Having had the good fortune of my company putting us up in diverse upper class hotels around the globe, and having used hotels for about half the month for the last 35 years, I have to place the Ritz Carlton Chain at the top. They are head and shoulders above their next competitor. I have enjoyed the Ritz at Battery Park - New York, Georgetown - Washington DC, 22nd Street - Washington DC, Tysons Corner - Virginia and a few others. Their service and efficiency is almost flawless, and if once there is a slip, they are not only apologetic, but fix it immediately. The strange thing is that although they are in a high price segment, their prices are not that much more than the Hilton and its competitors. If you can afford this class of hotel, I would recommend the Ritz Carlton anytime.

Room Tip: If you are taking your wife along, impress her with a Junior Suite. They are not that much more in m...

When I think of a "Ritz Carlton", I think of cream, beige, gold, traditional design. This hotel does not have those qualities.

Nonetheless, it is a beautiful hotel. The staff are professional and helpful, as one would expect them to be, and the room was clean and comfortable.

I visited NY with my parents in May for a weekend of events, and we shared a room with no problems. The bathroom was surprisingly large, which I appreciated.

The location is convenient if you intend to head out to Ellis/Liberty Island from Battery Park. We also had the chance to go into Soho for a little shopping.

My only real complaint: On our last day, we had an event to attend around 12 and we needed a cab. We waited outside for about 20 minutes before we were finally placed in a cab. Apparently, there was a line we needed to be standing in, so the gentleman hailing the cabs didn't think we were waiting because we should have been standing 2 feet to the left... Needless to say my dad was a little bit frustrated because he had generously tipped the gentleman, and still we were being ignored. I was disappointed with this particular situation, but our stay was great otherwise.

We recently stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park just for one night while in NYC to see a show. We live in NJ so we didn't do anything touristy, just wanted a nice and convenient place to stay. We booked a city view room, but were upgraded to a Harborview room overlooking the Statue of Liberty and waterfront. The telescope in the room was a nice touch! The room was very clean, and a nice size especially for NYC. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in - the linens were luxurious and pillows were extra fluffy! The bathroom was huge, and had a large jetted tub with separate shower stall.
Lots of nice touches throughout - fluffy robes, multiple electrical outlets by the desk (hotels never seem to have enough places to plug in), nice flat screen TV, black out curtains, and bathroom supplies. Oh, and fruit-infused water station in the lobby. So refreshing! We weren't there long enough to use the restaurants or fitness center, so I can't comment on those features. Overall, the hotel was in a great location, very helpful and friendly staff and concierge, comfortable clean room and we would definitely stay here again!

Ritz-Carlton has exacting service requirements and this hotel hits the mark at every point. Had a Club level room with a view of the Statue of Liberty and was impressed with the staff and as well as the food and beverage selections throughout the day in the Club Lounge. The front desk staff and bell staff met my every need with a smile.

I really enjoyed the location. After staying several times in the Times Square and Central Park areas, I will come back to the Battery Park area again on my next trip to New York. A quiet, almost residential area with beautiful water views and easy access to Times Square and the theatre district via the two main north-south subway lines or taxi.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Statue of Liberty
