“Terrific in every way! Best birthday ever! Awsome staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2012

This was my 4th trip to NYC. It was my 49th birthday getaway weekend.

I don't want to repeat what all the others have said, but I agree with all the rave reviews about the great rooms, wonderful bathroom, super location, etc. On top of all the greatness, how many NYC hotels offer free internet, free drinks and snacks, and free wine in the evening?
The room was terrific, the view was breathtaking, but most of all the staff was outstanding!
The place has a very welcoming atmosphere.
It's very trendy and modern, without being stuffy and snooty.
The staff is young, vibrant, and very professional. You can tell they love what they're doing. I'd like to give special mention to a few who stood out.
Handsome Peter: What a gentleman! Great service, great smile.
Joe: Very observant, took care of our needs without us even asking.
Andrew: nice to see a 'hands on" manager, thanks for everything
Emily: friendly and personable
Cory: super pro waiter in the restaurant!
Taxi Tessa: if you need transportation across town, or just down the block, she's your girl! Terrific young lady!!
Overall, we were made to feel very special at this hotel. I would recommend it and I will return :)
Thanks to all of you for making my birthday trip so memorable.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the library have a terrific view, especially at night!

Initially stayed here when looking for a location to host an event, and now stay here every time I come to NYC. Great, central location, right across the street from The NY Public Library & Bryant Park. Wonderful views over the library towards Times Square and down Fifth Avenue.

It's more of a non-traditional style. There is no check-in desk, per se. A host will greet you, offer you a beverage and check you in with their little iPad. If you're pressed for time they'll even escort you to your room and check you in there! The rooms have open floor plans and really high ceilings. The decor is minimalist, elegant - dark wood walls and doors accented by chrome, glass, light woods & natural fabrics. Some rooms have giant balconies, with lounge or dining furniture, that overlook Fifth Ave. Some have hidden kitchenettes with full-size fridges, microwaves & Nespresso machines.

I've had just about every room type (and there are a lot!), but my favorite is the Splash Suite. It is a suite (separate living and sleeping areas) separated by a bathroom with a gorgeous shower and a separate, massive soaking tub. Even the most basic room has all the cool stuff: remote-controlled lights & window shades, free wifi, complimentary non-alcoholic mini-bar beverages & snacks, flat screent TVs....

The food is consistently amazing - local, fresh, delicious. Restaurant on the main floor and a little coffee shop that does great coffee & snacks to go. Also The Bar Downstairs (yes, that's the name) is awesome. More intimate, like an old speak easy. Old-fashioned cocktails, solid wine selection by the glass (or carafe or bottle), tapas to share. Long communal tables, low lighting, very cool.

Room Tip: Though the rooms on Fifth Ave have the best views, they get a lot of street noise. It doesn't m...

I'm usually a Hyatt customer, but when the Hyatt was booked I went to their affiliate, Andaz, for a room. I was not disappointed. In fact, I was much happier than I would have been with my original choice. When we arrived, check-in was a little confusing. There is no traditional reception desk; I just waited for someone dressed in black to ask me if I needed help. While he checked me in, we were offered sparkling water, apple juice, coffee... Just a nice little touch to help us feel welcomed and refreshed. We were then walked to our room: not because we needed help with baggage (we had only a carryon), but because the manager on duty wanted to show us the amenities. There were special switches for the lights and the shade for the window; there were complimentary snacks and drinks in the stocked fridge (very handy); and there was an AMAZING shower with three options, including a porcelain footpath (which I used every night after a long day exploring NYC). The robe and slippers were an added comfort, and the minimalist design was gorgeous.

After a long day in NYC we enjoyed returning to the lobby for the complimentary wine and the relaxing atmosphere. This hotel seemed to do everything right. The location was central: walking distance to Times Square, shopping, Grand Central ... In fact, we walked just about everywhere. But several train lines are also close. I would definitely return. Everyone who worked there was extremely nice, but it's the comfort and convenience of this gorgeous boutique hotel that draws me.

The location is fantastic, the hotel itself is modern, funky and the rooms have all sorts of hi-tech gadgets as well as all of the basics, but for us, we loved the shower which was a welcome sight at the end of a long hot day of sight seeing. There was also a reading room which was a nice way to unwind before heading off to your next event.
The service was mostly excellent although it's a little unclear why they have door men as they don't seem to do anything (help with luggage, get you a cab etc..).
Breakfast was excellent.
