“Decent size room and comfy bed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2012

I stayed here over the St Patricks weekend when everywhere was very busy - the bedroom was a good size (we had a twin with 2 big really comfortable double beds) and the bathroom was a good size too with nice toiletries. The staff was really helpful - good concierge. My only grip is that the wi-fi was expensive - at this standard of hotel I would expect it to be free, at least in the lobby.

Great location - right in the heart of things but far enough away from Tines Square to be hectic. Close to good restaurants on 9th.

I often come to NYC on business but had never stayed at this hotel. I love everything about this hotel -- the location is perfectly close to Times Square but not noisy; rooms are a very comfortable size and the bathrooms are gorgeous. Everything is spotless and the amenities are very nice quality.

My wife and I stayed at the Intercontinental for four nights in mid-April. This is a five star rated hotel and i would say overall that the rating is well justified. Situated near Times Square, the location is ideal if you are on a sight-seeing trip. Broadway is on the doorstop, the subway is right by the hotel and you are less than 5 minutes' walk from Restaurant Row - which offers a great range of food for all tastes and budgets - and most of the restaurants are far superior to the joints offering poor food at at extortionate price around Times Square. When I booked the hotel, I paid for an upgrade to a Kingsize bed. Unfortunately, the view from our 17th floor window was awful. My wife then explained it was our first trip to NY and that we were celebrating a special wedding anniversary and my X0th birthday. So they upgraded us to a double aspect room on the 26th floor from where we could lie in bed and look right down 8th Avenue. Superb. The room was well appointed - 42" TV, a computer ($15 for 24hrs on the net - a bit expensive), i-pod dock, a super shower, nice bathroom, comfy bed and - believe or not - hardly a sound to be heard. No doors slamming, no lift going up and down, no noise from adjacent rooms. Perfect. Oh - and we had only just started to unpack when the management wheeled in a bottle of bubbly ad some very impressive chocolate-covered strawberries. The following morning, one of the concierge team downloaded tickets for us to visit Ground Zero (and a very moving experience it was, too). I had tried several times to download tickets before we left England, but without success. So overall, staff were superb and always charming and helpful. And the room certainly lived up to expectations. I was also able to use the business centre to check in and download our boarding cards before leaving for the airport. No charge for that. We did not eat at the hotel. Breakfast did not seem an option when I booked. But there are several diners within a couple of minutes' walk where you can get a big breakfast for two for less than $20.00 - although the standard dish of cinammon-flavoured French toast with maple pancakes and bacon does strike me as slightly odd. I prefer Marmite soldiers.

Room Tip: Go as high as possible. There are good views to be had for all of the higher rooms. Corner rooms hav...
