One of many small footprint hotels to open in NYC in the past decade or so.
PRO: Great staff; well appointed rooms with plenty of drawer space, a safe, mini-bar; fast elevators; good location about 6 blocks from Penn Station, near stops on several subway lines, at the north end of Chelsea, so plenty of restaurants and services close-by including a laundromat with wash and fold service across the street.
CON: Rooms are small even by NYC standards (e.g. smaller than the Hilton Garden Inn W. 35th St and Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea), no refrigerator in rooms; more noticeable outside noise than other NYC properties; small lobby.
Has a small, but well equipped fitness room. The Rare Bar & Grill steakhouse is in the hotel – has a nice bar and serves a good breakfast (did not have dinner here). Has rooftop bar which seemed popular. I suspect some of the noise noted above came from the rooftop bar.
BOTTOM LINE: A good choice, but compare prices to other nearby properties.
FOR HILTON HONORS GOLD/PLATINUM MEMBERS: The breakfast benefit is $20 credit/person at Rare. While there are several hot items available at this amount, it does not cover the buffet (there is no continental buffet option). Food and service are very good.More
