“More than I expected!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 September 2012

As a native New Yorker you really do not get the opportunity to visit places of interest when you live in this ciity. I found my yearly visits back to my hometown to include cool places to visit as a tourist. The location of the Inrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum was conviently located on the West coast pier. We visited during the Memorial Holiday on a Friday which was'ent very crowed. The doors open promptly at 9:00am and for four adjults were able to see all it has to offer. My highlight was the space shuttle Enterprise. A entire wing was just the right size to accommadate its massive size. Surprisingly, I thought it would be bigger. The Intrepid is another place of intrest. It allows your to go onboard and view the ship & providing an audio tour. I recommend purchasing souveniers outside the museum. You'll find prices are at least 40% cheaper just by visiting different parts of the city. IE: SoHo or Chinatown. Our hotel was able to provide us discount coupons to this event. Ask your front desk clerk. Enjoy!

“If you like planes, You'll love this”

See a huge variety of planes from older prop jobs to the fastest jets. You can walk through the Air Craft Carrier Intrepid and a vintage Submarine, if you're not too claustrophobic. Recently, the Space Shuttle Enterprise was added to the displays at the Intrepid, but I heard that they charge an additional fee to see it.

“Must see this!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2012 via mobile

Having spent the day at. The museum, I was blown away at not only the amazing exhibits but having the pleasure of being able to access all areas of this amazing warship, an experience I never thought possible, this museum is clever, it uses the huge spaces wisely, and visitor facilities are excellent, the aircraft both old and more modern are well presented and the concord exhibit is a must see, today the interior was closed to the public unfortunately, but it is still amazing.
The most amazing exhibit and not to be missed is the space shuttle enterprise is truly a sight to see, to the person who has never seen one before will be amazed at the sheer size of this huge craft, a great day not expensive for what you get, a definite must see in new York, it's an easy walk from mid town off 12 th avenue around 44th street,

“A place of interest for all ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2012

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum offers something of interest for everyone in the family. For the older folks there is a ton of history, everything from reenactment of a WW2 battle to displays of the 60's space race to the space shuttle. For the younger military enthusiast there is also a wide range of military aircraft to see and interactive exhibits to try, not to mention you are on an actual battle hardened aircraft carrier where you can see the actual living and working conditions of the Navy in that era. There is also a submarine you can go through on a guided tour (watch you're head!), and one of the marvels of modern commercial aircraft - the Concorde. Plan to spend the better part of a day to see it all. The only part of this excellent attraction that was less than stellar was the cafeteria which is not really sufficient in size and capability to handle a large crowd. A particularly exceptional experience can be had if you plan to be there around Independence day. Although the price is a bit higher than some of the other Macy's 4th of July fireworks venues ($160/seat in 2012), the location and service is incredible. For the price you get a guaranteed seat, a perfect location to see all 4 barges, and all the barbequed burgers, dogs, chips, salad, pie, soft drinks, and water you can feast on in the 2-3 hours you are there, plus you can enjoy the displays available on the hangar deck. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable and happy to help and impart that information to all. Overall, this a "must see" for anyone visiting NYC.
