The area directly around the hotel is a little grimy but the location is really great for the price. The staff were really helpful, the price includes good wi-fi in the rooms and breakfast and the hotel is pretty new so our room was spotless. It's only a 10 minute walk to Soho and Greenwich Village and even less to the Lower East Side. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance and the subway is one block away. It's a good choice if you want to be near Soho etc but can't afford to stay there.

Here are my random thoughts on this hotel:

Initially, we walked right by it as the name is written in Chinese. I later noticed that when it's near check-in time, a sign with the logo and name in English is put out at the entrance.

Staff was wonderful, ready to help when needed. We arrived at the hotel way too early for check-in and they kept our bags in a designated room.

Like many rooms in New York City, the room was small. For example, the chair for the desk was right against the bed. When not using the desk, though, there was a spot for the chair which didn't impinge on space. There was also an easy chair in the room. The bed was as high as Mount Everest so had to actually climb onto it. Once in the bed, it was extremely comfortable.

All the lamps had easy to use buttons so no fumbling in the dark. One lamp had 2 extra outlets attached to the base.

Wifi was free.

Grand Station for the B and D lines was a 3 minute walk.
Bowery Station for the J and Z lines was a 5 minute walk.
Both of these were just off Chrystie Street.

Breakfast was from 7-10 AM and had the usual stuff. The tables were spread throughout the floor. My favourites were the ones by the window.

Chinatown is very busy outside on the sidewalk. The chinese buses depart from about a block away. Have patience when walking. Everyone on the sidewalk was polite but it was crowded.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor if you'd like a view.

We stayed a total of 8 nights and we were on the 7th floor, just high enough to have a partial view of the bridge. If possible request a higher floor. The rooms are cozy, I guess this is NYC style. The bathroom was quite a generous size and very clean, modern shower head and facilities. Good hot water, water pressure and drainage. Nice, clean and firm bed only issue with ours was that it had a broken plastic mattress protector, so the corner of plastic kept jabbing my partner, nothing major though. The free breakfast was pretty good, often got a little too crowded, we always went near closing time though, so it's to be expected. Very close to Grand Street station, walkable to Canal Street station which has some different Metro lines. Towards the end of our stay we were a bit concerned about the constant smell of cigarette/cigar smoke, the hotel is 100% non-smoking so we spoke to the front desk about it, they said they would investigate. The smell did still hang around, but the lady at the front desk was very nice and she did seem genuine about investigating for us.

Fun location to explore Chinatown and Lower East Side. Traveling alone and never felt unsafe, stayed 2/26-2/28. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I booked a loft room which was clean and comfortable and had an amazing view of the Manhattan Bridge. Very good value.

Room Tip: Loft rooms provide separate sitting area with TV and fantastic view of Manhattan Bridge.

Stayed here from the 22nd to the 27th of Feb 2012. Really nice hotel! The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was quite spacious, considering how small NYC hotel rooms tend to be. The Queen size bed was without doubt the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The Large shower, room was definitely a bonus as I'm a bit of a big old boy. Oh, andThe Room was cleaned and linen changed every day. Nice touch

The widescreen TV was a bit temperamental and difficult to wake from 'sleep' mode, however I discovered that if you hit the 'power' button on the remote TWICE, it will wake the TV up. (go figure)

There's wired or wireless internet available, which was a godsend as I brought my laptop and called several people using Skype, which saved me a fortune in roaming charges. If you are going to bring your laptop, you might want to consider bringing an extension cable because (in my room at least) the only available plugs were quite some distance from the desk. Maintenance lent me an extension cable though, so all was well.

There's a large safe in the room as well so you can have peace of mind with regard to laptops, passport and money. The heating in the rooms is apparently adjustable, though I never quite figured it out myself, although I'm sure if you ask the friendly staff at reception they'd sort it for you.

The continental breakfast thrown in was a really nice touch and if you're on a bit of a budget could save you some money in the long run.

Great location, right in the heart of Chinatown, with little Italy just around the corner. Authentic Chinese and Italian food, and perhaps more importantly, Italian coffee, just round the corner - what's not to like.

Grand St subway is a five minute walk down the block. The B and D lines taking you quickly to within easy reach of all the major attractions.

A good way of seeing all the sights is to take the Grayline tour bus. This is a hop on hop off bus system that works in three 'Loops' Downtown - midtown and uptown. Costs $44.00 and ticket is valid for 48 hours.

You can book at reception.

Almost forgot to mention, they provide a coffee maker in your room as well. I used that to great advantage.

The only downside to my stay here and it certainly is not the fault of the hotel, is that I had an adjoining door into the next bedroom and the inconsiderate b******s next door would slam their door at 4am and have loud conversations till they went to bed (usually between 5 & 6am) so I suffered quite a bit with sleep disturbance.

Having said that though, this hotel was amazing value and all for about £80.00 a night. Will definitely return.
