“Prime location for ladies weekend holiday getaway”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2011

Stayed at the Hilton club for three nights. The room was spacious (especially by New York standards) and had a nice modern decor. The king size bed was very comfortable as well as the many pillows provided. The large flat screen worked well and was in a good spot for viewing. There was ample storage space for two travelers. The bathroom was ok in size too. It had one of those sink bowls (basin) that sits on the counter. Not my favorite. Awkward to wash your face if you are not very tall. Shower had a large head with great water pressure and lots of hot water. There were even some side jets, but I did not use them. Towels were fluffy and soft plus they had robes available. Being that it's an older hotel the bathroom did not have a fan to vent the moisture so it really steamed up. There was a portable makeup mirror which was handy to move elsewhere in the room to see to dry my hair. They did have a large full length mirror by the door but there was no outlet for a dryer. There is a safe in the closet if needed and a mini bar which we did not use. We utilized the wake up call with no problems. The 38th floor was relatively quiet. We didn't hear any neighbors. Only once we heard someone running down the hall. The noise from the street can be heard up here. It's not loud, but I'm a light sleeper. Fortunately I carry earplugs along and they did the trick. I had heard that waiting for the elevator could be a problem. We only had difficulty Saturday morning. If you need to catch a plane, plan accordingly. The rest of the days the wait wasn't excessive. The club has an area on the 37th floor where you check in separately from the regular Hilton in the lobby. We arrived at 1:00 p.m. and they had both our rooms ready. This was great, since check in isn't till 3:00 p.m. We were told to call ahead as we were in the taxi on our way from the airport to see if the room was ready. If it had not been ready we would need to leave our luggage at the holding area in the lobby. This would save you an extra trip back down with your luggage if you had not called and gone directly up to check in. Also, at the check in area there is a "lounge" type area where they have a continental breakfast available included in your room price. They offered coffee, tea, OJ, another type of juice, yogurts, cereals, bagels, cream cheese, jellies, toast, hard boiled eggs (cold), croissants, pastries, muffins, fresh fruit (cantelope, pineapple, strawberries). Everything was fresh and tasty. The lounge can get crowded but I believe you can take your food back to your room if you wish. Most of the day they keep hot tea available and some cookies. The can run out of the cookies though. During the evening between 5 and 7 p.m. they have a complimentary cocktail time. There is wine and some hot and cold hors deourves. I can't comment on the wine or food because I didn't have any. The location of the hotel can't be beat. You are close to so many things (MOMA, Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave., Radio City Music Hall, and Central Park). We utilized cabs, busses, and the subway to get around for areas further away. All of which were easy to use and convenient depending on where we wanted to go. Overall the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. There was one person who wasn't so personable, but the others made up for her. The gentlemen that assissted us with printing our boarding passes was very efficient and upbeat. We also had a slight discrepancy on one of our room bills and he made an adjustment for us without any problems. On our departure day we needed to have our bags held downstairs so we could sight see some more before our evening flight. They charge $3.50 a bag. The taxi que outside the lobby area was efficient. We didn't have to wait long. Also, upon returning late one evening, we had to show our room key as we entered the hotel. A good idea. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. The price is high but you are paying for location. Other hotels in the area were similar in price but didn't include the the various food ammenities in the lounge. A nice perk.

My husband and I stayed at the Hilton Club in early October as part of a timeshare sales offer. Our plane arrived early, so we were not able to check in at 11:00, but this wasn't unexpected and the hotel held our luggage. We returned after dinner to first enter our room. The room was nicely decorated, an adequate size, and the bed was comfortable. However, that first night, it took us two and a half hours to get decaf coffee, two coffee cups, and a normal blanket because we don't like the down comforters that are always provided these days. There was a blanket in the room, but when I unfolded it to put it on the bed to replace the comforter, it had a totally disgusting stain on it! It's hard to believe that this horrific large stain had not been discovered prior to the blanket being put in a plastic bag. Our second night, we were already ready for bed when my husband discovered that we had no bath towels. Instead of calling, he went to the concierge desk on the 37th floor. He was told that someone would be right up with the towels, but because of the long, poor service the previous night, asked that he be given them right away, which they did. We were given an apology gift of sparkling wine and chocolates, but this didn't make up for our disappointment and inconvenience. When we attended our timeshare presentation, we did so with little chance of even considering a purchase at their new property, considering our experience at the Hilton Club thus far.
On a positive note, the breakfast was good for a free continental breakfast, and one night we returned early enough to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine. We found the location convenient and within walking distance to places of interest.

We visited the Hilton Club October 13-16th . Check in on the 37th floor for the Hilton VIP Guest was very smooth even though we were 3 hours early the Hilton team was very accommodating. The one bedroom suite is huge and I did not expect it to be so warm and comfy. There is continental breakfast in the morning and cocktails and h'orderves in the evening. This a great location because it is close to subway and all the favorite spots. The Hilton team at the desk on the 37th floor made sure our stay was enjoyable. This is my favorite hotel!!

Very modern with all the amenities in the room such as desk, Ipod, robes, minifridge .....

Great hotel in a busy city area. Operated as most Hiltons in the world - very clean and high standard service.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view.

We visited this hotel between October 1- 5 2011, it was our first trip to New York and my wife and I had been recommended this hotel by friends who have stayed there previously. We were aware it is a hotel for business people so we believed we knew what to expect. On arrival we were greeted by efficient and friendly reception staff who immediately upgraded our room, a pleasant surprise following a long journey.

After our initial exploration we returned to the hotel and decided to partake in a drink in the bar situated in the entrance lobby. We are not naive and fully expected to pay hotel prices for our drinks.

What we did not expect was the poor service we received. The bar was not busy however we waited for 10 minutes to be served at our table and when we approached the bar to purchase our drinks we were told it was waiter service and return to our table where we would be served. We declined and took a seat at the bar and to our amazement were served almost immediately; I trust this was a mere 'blip' on behalf of the bar staff as I found all other staff, especially the breakfast staff to be extremely polite and helpful.

The room was lovely and was always immaculate on our return after a long long day, just what is needed to help you to relax.

Despite the incident in the bar on the first night I would have no problem in recommending this hotel as a base from which to tour the city. Times Square is in walking distance, only minutes away and if you feel very adventurous Battery Park is a a walk of 1hr 45mins but then you have to get back!! (typical English). Book an open top bus tour!

Our thanks to the hotel and staff for making our first trip to NYC so memorable.
