Stayed at the Hilton club for three nights. The room was spacious (especially by New York standards) and had a nice modern decor. The king size bed was very comfortable as well as the many pillows provided. The large flat screen worked well and was in a good spot for viewing. There was ample storage space for two travelers. The bathroom was ok in size too. It had one of those sink bowls (basin) that sits on the counter. Not my favorite. Awkward to wash your face if you are not very tall. Shower had a large head with great water pressure and lots of hot water. There were even some side jets, but I did not use them. Towels were fluffy and soft plus they had robes available. Being that it's an older hotel the bathroom did not have a fan to vent the moisture so it really steamed up. There was a portable makeup mirror which was handy to move elsewhere in the room to see to dry my hair. They did have a large full length mirror by the door but there was no outlet for a dryer. There is a safe in the closet if needed and a mini bar which we did not use. We utilized the wake up call with no problems. The 38th floor was relatively quiet. We didn't hear any neighbors. Only once we heard someone running down the hall. The noise from the street can be heard up here. It's not loud, but I'm a light sleeper. Fortunately I carry earplugs along and they did the trick. I had heard that waiting for the elevator could be a problem. We only had difficulty Saturday morning. If you need to catch a plane, plan accordingly. The rest of the days the wait wasn't excessive. The club has an area on the 37th floor where you check in separately from the regular Hilton in the lobby. We arrived at 1:00 p.m. and they had both our rooms ready. This was great, since check in isn't till 3:00 p.m. We were told to call ahead as we were in the taxi on our way from the airport to see if the room was ready. If it had not been ready we would need to leave our luggage at the holding area in the lobby. This would save you an extra trip back down with your luggage if you had not called and gone directly up to check in. Also, at the check in area there is a "lounge" type area where they have a continental breakfast available included in your room price. They offered coffee, tea, OJ, another type of juice, yogurts, cereals, bagels, cream cheese, jellies, toast, hard boiled eggs (cold), croissants, pastries, muffins, fresh fruit (cantelope, pineapple, strawberries). Everything was fresh and tasty. The lounge can get crowded but I believe you can take your food back to your room if you wish. Most of the day they keep hot tea available and some cookies. The can run out of the cookies though. During the evening between 5 and 7 p.m. they have a complimentary cocktail time. There is wine and some hot and cold hors deourves. I can't comment on the wine or food because I didn't have any. The location of the hotel can't be beat. You are close to so many things (MOMA, Rockefeller Center, 5th Ave., Radio City Music Hall, and Central Park). We utilized cabs, busses, and the subway to get around for areas further away. All of which were easy to use and convenient depending on where we wanted to go. Overall the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. There was one person who wasn't so personable, but the others made up for her. The gentlemen that assissted us with printing our boarding passes was very efficient and upbeat. We also had a slight discrepancy on one of our room bills and he made an adjustment for us without any problems. On our departure day we needed to have our bags held downstairs so we could sight see some more before our evening flight. They charge $3.50 a bag. The taxi que outside the lobby area was efficient. We didn't have to wait long. Also, upon returning late one evening, we had to show our room key as we entered the hotel. A good idea. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. The price is high but you are paying for location. Other hotels in the area were similar in price but didn't include the the various food ammenities in the lounge. A nice perk.
