Owner description: Not all bike tours are created equal. Since 2001, the expert, experienced, professional guides of Bike the Big Apple have been safely taking guests far off the "beaten path" - in all 5 boroughs! With us, you will venture into real ethnic neighborhoods, and experience what life is like beyond the skyscrapers. In fact, we are quite proud to still be the only company to do bike tours of our beloved Bronx - seldom seen by visitors to the city. Why take a bike tour? Walking tours are severely limited in the distance they can travel; you are either going to visit a very small area of the city, or spend half of your day underground. Bus tours can cover plenty, but you are completely removed from the neighborhoods by glass. On bike, you can cover much and still get a real "feel" for the neighborhoods we take you to.Come ride with us!

This tour came reccomended by a friend and it was one of the highlights of our vacation. We took the B tour out around Brooklyn. Marc (our guide) was friendly, obliging and extremely knowledgeable and the tour was interactive and fascinating. I would wholeheartedly reccomend this tour for anyone wishing to get an in depth experience of New York.

In New York they do everything they can to make you feel at home - during our trip the weather was consistently gorgeous, except the day we went biking - then it rained (a lot as well). Unsurprisingly quite a few Dutch people (but certainly not only) take the bike tour. The tour was nice and informative even though it rained (despite the prediction). The tour guys were so kind as to provide us with rain ponchos which we definitely needed. The lunch in Chinatown was fun and very cost effective.

We took the Brooklyn Delights tour and absolutely loved it!!! it was the highlight of our trip to NYC. The bikes were comfortable -our guide George and sweep Chris were awesome - they were personable and shared their knowledge of the city generously. The route is safe and very interesting and it's a real kick just to be cycling in Manhattan - there was 4 of us and we all could not believe we were cycling in Manhattan - it was definitely the highlight of our trip. We whole heartedy recommend this tour to others who love to cycle and appreciate the different perspective that you can get from cycling.

We booked with Bike the Big Apple after reading the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. I was travelling with my husband & 9 year old son and was looking for something we all could enjoy. I had originally booked Tour C through Central Park as I was a bit concerned about cycling through traffic, however following a long flight delay we were unable to make this & the guys were very accommodating & transferred us to Tour E - an evening tour through lower Manhattan. I needn't have worried about the traffic, our guide Johannes & sweeper Danny took very good care of us. They were entertaining & engaging & we saw a lot of the city that we would otherwise have missed. The tour was the highlight of our trip to New York. We thoroughly enjoyed it & will definitely take another tour next time we are in the city.

We had 4 days in NYC and figured walking for 4 days would be exhausting so decided to look up the possibility of a bike tour. We have been on bike tours in Paris, Barcelona and Amsterdam, all a little different but wonderful, as was the Big Apple tour. The idea of biking in NYC was a little intimidating so the idea of going out to Queens and Brooklyn was good, plus we would likely not have gone to either area on our own.
The day was perfect, not too hot and the rain held off all day. The tour is more about the sights and less about biking so no need to worry about being on a bicycle seat for 7 hours. The areas visited are definitely not "touristy" but the information given was very interesting. The view of Manhattan from the Brooklyn waterfront (which is being cleaned up nicely) is great, actually easier to see for there than craning your neck up at street-level. Our guide (Max) was able to tell us which building was which and a little about them. As with all city bike tours we've taken, the details are brief, if you want to know actual height, architects name, exact year built, how many bricks and tons of cement were used, this isn't the tour. The pace is relaxed, the sweep (Richard) was there to make sure no one got left behind, advise us when vehicle were approaching and add a bit of commentary.
If you only have a day and want to "see it all" in Manhattan another tour might work better. If you have more time, have visited before or want to get off your feet but still get some exercise, this is a great way to spend a day.

We will definitely try another route next time we are in NYC and will be recommending the company to friends.
