We went round on a horse and cart as it was ranining. The guy was very friendly and told us all about the park. Brill way to see the park and especially if like my mum you have bad knees!

We were fortunate enough to be staying less than 10 minutes walk from the park during our stay in New York, and we came here nearly every day. These stays ranged from short stops while we ate a sandwich, through to hour long meanders around the various paths.

On the sunny Saturday it was vibrant and packed - everywhere people enjoying themselves. On the miserable wet Sunday we had the place to almost to ourselves.

There seemed something new to discover around every corner - a statue, a street entertainer or just a small mystery: was that really a Gondola on the boating lake? (Yes) Why was the Golden retriever carrying a bunch of balloons (We never did find out).

A wonderful place to sit, relax, and marvel at the views of the skyscrapers - so close, and yet seemingly so far removed from the tranquillity.
