Owner description: The world-famous Empire State Building offers unobstructed panoramic views of New York City and beyond from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m. daily. Our 86th and 102nd floor Observation Decks offer the two highest vantage points in New York City. Soaring 1,454 feet above Midtown Manhattan from base to antenna, the Empire State Building is the World's Most Famous Office Building. Named America's favorite building in a poll conducted by the American Institute of Architects, the Empire State Building is one of New York City's top tourist destinations. On a clear day, you can see up to five states from our Observation Decks - New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Guests can enjoy our outdoor viewing area on our open-air 86th floor Observatory, or our indoor climate-controlled viewing areas on the 86th and 102nd floors. We recently launched our new Multimedia Experience as well, which guides visitors through the extraordinary exhibits and breathtaking views with additional depth on the building's history in eight languages - including English, Spanish, French, Italian, Mandarin, Portuguese, Japanese and Korean. The Empire State Building aims to provide entertainment for guests of all ages. Bringing children? Have their picture taken with King Kong himself on our 80th floor from Thursdays through Mondays (12 p.m. until 9 p.m.). Celebrating a first date or an anniversary? Enjoy romantic tunes from our saxophone player from 9 p.m. until midnight every Thursday through Saturday night. Tickets can be purchased through our website. Our celebrated tower lights are often illuminated to commemorate holidays, events and special causes. In the Fall of 2012, we upgraded our tower lighting system from floodlights to one-of-a-kind LED tower lights. The state-of-the-art system allows customized lighting capabilities from a palette of over 16 million colors! To watch some of our recent light shows, visit our YouTube page. Reigning as the world's tallest building from 1931 to 1970, the Empire State Building is known for its distinct Art Deco style. Construction of the renowned icon only took one year and 45 days, and logged more than 7 million man hours. This is the fastest construction to date for a project of its scale. Additionally, from classics like An Affair to Remember and Sleepless in Seattle to recent hits such as Oblivion and Elf, our place in pop culture has been solidified since our early days. In fact, over 200 movies and TV shows have featured the Empire State Building in them!

“You have to go”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

We couldn't go all the way to NYC without going to the top of this iconic building. The views from the 86th floor are great but after going to the top of the rock prior to the Empire State Building we found the views from the rock better. From there you get a better view of Central Park and you get to look at the Empire State Building which provides a great backdrop for family photos and the city skyline.

We went up to the top deck (102nd floor) but if i had my time again I wouldn't bother and save my $$. It's the same view just from 16 floors higher and behind glass panels which doesn't help when taking photos. As there is only 1 lift up and down from the 102nd it can take some time to go up.

Also the photo they take on the way up and sell to you on your way out is a rip off.

“Worth the long wait in lines.”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

We made the mistake of going up on a Saturday night, BAD MOVE! It was a very long wait in endless lines (about 2.5hrs) but it was a beautiful view once we got there! Personally not worth the extra dollars to go to the very top, I preferred the first view as it was outdoors and fresh air but thats just my opinion, maybe I was just over it by that stage :-) A tip for the people who work there.... how about placing signs at several points, telling people how much longer the wait will likely be from this point, it felt endless and every time we turned a corner we got our hopes up, only to be dashed by another long line.

“good view of the city”
Reviewed 30 April 2012

I found it quite costly but we saw great views of the city. They take your picture going in and then if you want the picture on the way out they charge you.

“Express Ticket A Must!”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

This was one of our highlights. Got Express ticket from Concierge at Hotel and it was worth it. We dreamed of these views before the trip and they were much better. Not difficult to get a viewing position, everyone moves around regularly.
Go up and enjoy, however with an express ticket you just walk past everyone else. Just keep showing your ticket to uniformed staff and within 15 mins you are at the top. All the people in line will be there in 2 -3 hours.
Go at 1 hour before sunset and see the city at both day and night. Hope this helps.

“A NYC Landmark at Night”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

We went to the Empire State Building after leaving a hockey game at Madison Square Garden. It was about 10:30 at night when we arrived. To our surprise there were no lines at all. Other than going through security, getting tickets, taking pictures we’d have been at the elevator in no time. We got to the top (88th floor observatory) and had an easy time getting to the observation area without having to wait for crowds to look out. You could easily pick out Times Square and all the bridges are lit up making it a great time to visit. One word of advice is to bring a jacket as it was pretty windy up there which made it chilly. If in NYC for the first time, the Empire State Building Observatory is a must-do. My young kids looked out but with the wind whipping around they were ready to go back inside much sooner that I was.
