It takes a long time to get through the line. About an hour or so. Getting through security was a bit of a pain. The ferry ride itself was nice and short. I just felt like the experience was a bit overrated. It didn't help it was raining a little bit, and cold. I would not do this trip again. Once was enough. We only did the grounds tour. Honestly, we were in line there and back much longer than we were on the grounds. On the way back, you make another stop at Ellis Island, so it made the trip getting back even longer. Not sure if you can pay to skip the line. Kind of doubt it. The GOOD news is - we bought a one-day NYC sightseeing pass. The line was crazy long to get on the ferry. We looked at the tickets and realized they were good for three days, so we went on the last day of our trip.

The statue and Ellis island are really good sites to visit with a lot of history behind them. Our tour guide was Jared who is very knowledgeable and a great tour guide.

We arrived at the site on a very foggy day, but it cleared up enough for us to enjoy ourselves. The staff are extremely well-informed, helpful and courteous, the museum was very interesting, and going to the crown is worth it (unless you can’t handle the stairs and a bit of claustrophobia!).

I had been to New York in Nov,2017. The weather was cold and could Saturday morning. The tickets can be booked online in advance as well as the counter. The crown visit ticket gets sold in advance so recommend to book in advance.

The ferry ride takes around 30 mins to reach the statue and the overall ride is fun n windy. The statue looks mesmerising and big. Manhattan looks awe strucking with all skyscrapers.

The experience of seeing the Statue of Liberty will have a long lasting experience

You cannot come to New York and not see the Statue of Liberty. We did not plan well and didn't purchase tickets in advance to go inside or to go up to the crown....you need to do this months in advance and would highly recommend this. But even without, just walking around this amazing statue is worth your time. You can picture what it must have been like for the millions of immigrants to finally see this statue. She is one impressive sight. Did you know her right foot is posed to show she is walking forward...away from oppression. And if she bought her shoe at Nike it would be size 879!!!! We listened in on a couple of tours and learned a great deal...definitely have improved my trivia knowledge.

Just a note about security...it is tight and rightly so. You must go through a screening before you hop on the boat at Battery Park ( and I'm guessing the same when coming from New Jersey) If you are going inside the Lady, you also go through a secondary screening.
