We were visiting friends in the dead of winter, and they invited us to see the Rip It Ups band at Preservation Hall in Wellfleet. This is a beautiful old church that has been remodeled into a function hall, with a nice stage and band area downstairs.

The Rip It Ups were performing -- a seasoned group from the cape that plays fantastic blues standards from all over.

The mostly older crowd loved the music, and danced the night away. Drinks were cheap, and they had pretty much the capability to make anything.

If in Wellfleet -- you can't go wrong with this place!

Art shows, concerts, movies, Zumba, yoga and more! There is always something going on at the Hall. Stop in and check it out, take a look on the table for a schedule of events.

Interesting variety of entertainment. Available for weddings, receptions, etc. The restored doors (it was originally a Catholic church) are picture worthy. Farmers Market held in rear.

When the Roman Catholic Church decided to move out of downtown Wellfleet into a more spacious building on Route 6, the church building was left behind. A small group of preservationists in 2006 had a vision for restoration. With determination, organization and patience, they succeeded in reclaiming this beautiful building for community use. It is a fine venue for concerts, lectures, weddings, etc. It opens out into a backyard that is perfect for hosting events and parties (including the annual Wellfleet Strawberry Festival in June. The interior includes tiled walls, crystal chandeliers and restored floors. The front doors by Jonathan Kendall have been restored to add an inviting touch to the building.

Looked forward to showing friends traveling with me those famous, gorgeous hand carved doors on what used to be a church....and found they had been "restored". Ugly!! What a shame!!! They look brand new - no hint of their old natural beauty. Why can't people leave well enough alone and honor history?!
