“Nice, but lacking basic amenities....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012

We just finished up a 3 night stay this week. Check-in was not favorable at all, although my request for an upgrade was available. We waited a few hours for our room to be available and did spend those hours at the over-crowded pool. There was definitely a lack of lounge chairs.

The room was quite small and over crowded with useless furniture. They really should consider replacing the overstuffed chair with a more useful small table and chairs set. I thought the bed was very comfortable, but husband complained it was too soft. The walls were pretty thin as we could hear our neighbors loud and clear. The fridge was a nice addition, though.

My biggest gripe was the parking fee ($20) for self-parking in an unsecured lot! Really? Shame. Oh, and no free Wi-Fi! Free Wi-Fi is a must for any resort these days. For being a "luxury" hotel, I thought the no wi-Fi was pretty bad.

The other thing I noticed was the dog feces all over the place. I'm not sure if they allow animals in the hotel, but there was plenty of "evidence" around. I had to keep reminding my kids to avoid the several "land mines" on the walking paths. Disgusting.

I will say the staff were nice and friendly and the hotel itself has lovely grounds. The location was great and our view from the 14th floor was spectacular!

More than likely will return, if the price is right.

The trip started off with a miserable check in. We waited 5 hours to get into the room. I know check-in was guaranteed for 4pm, but we ended up waiting til 5pm and had to keep pestering them. Never got our phone call to say it was ready. No apologies, no free drink for the inconvenience - felt like canceling my gold passport number. But things got much better.

Rooms were fine and the beds comfortable. Stayed on the Regency club floor. It made the whole stay much better - so worth the money with discount cocktails, complimentary drinks throughout the day, continental breakfast and evening appetizers included.

Pool area has wonderful landscaping - very tropical. The pool was overrun with kids, but it was spring break. There weren't enough chairs when we were there. On the plus side, the service at the pool was great. There was always somebody to take a drink order.

Other than the poor check-in experience, all the other staff were very cheerful and helpful.

We're just back from the Hyatt Mission Bay and a quick getaway with the kids. We live in the San Diego area so when we go away, we're looking for a great location and amenities that make things more special than staying home. The pool would have been great but the weather was a little too cool. Best to use the pool during the midday when the breezes haven't picked up. The rooms we had were fine - first a King with view of the Bay (not the pool) on 7th floor of the Tower. We had really noisy neighbors so on the 2nd night we moved to the 10th floor with two queens. The on-site Einstein Bagels was a convenient breakfast. Would be great to have a shuttle to Sea World - it's not the easiest walk with kids and parking is expensive at the Hyatt as it is. Also, given the ease of finding free wi-fi at places like Sbux and McD's, it's too bad the hotel charges for theirs. Try bidding for a cheaper room on Priceline if your dates are set.

Room Tip: The seals that hang out in the middle of the bay were noisier from the 7th floor so choose to stay o...

Thanks, Hyatt and staff!!!

Room Tip: All rooms seemed to have a balcony or patio. We were overlooking the pool and could also see the oce...

I can not thank the entire staff for making our last stay the best. From the valets that parked the car to our bellman and the wonderful help the front desk provided. I especially want to thank the front desk for going out of her way to find us a special room, even though the hotel was book solid she came through for us.

Hyatt we are coming back.

Room Tip: The best place for children and pets, staff very helpful.
