“So Interesting”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

Traveling to San Diego on business, my husband and I had a few hours of free time and decided to check out the Midway Museum. My father had served on an aircraft carrier just after WWII and we have a good friend who had been a Navy fighter pilot, so seeing the carrier and learning about the operations was very interesting. Besides the headsets which are included in the admission price, the volunteers on board the ship were so helpful and informative. We talked to one gentleman at the beginning and he helped me to understand the difference between this carrier and the one my father had served on. He then directed us to the various parts of the ship which he thought would be more interesting to us. He explained that if we listened to every item on the headsets, we would be there until the next day, so it is best to be selective. Two other volunteers on the flight deck gave detailed presentations on the take off and landing operations. We are so glad we had this opportunity to visit the USS Midway.

“Historic museum-great value and dedication”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

This Navy ship has great entertainment value. $18 for adults, $15 seniors, $10 retired military and youth. Parking is very reasonable ($7 for 4 hours, $10 for all day) It is located in Downtown San Diego, walking distance of the cruise port, and all the nearby tourist attractions. Fairly close to Seaport Village shopping center on the waterfront. You can spend as long as you want onboard. Minimum would be 2-3 hours to see most everything.

You may choose to use their free ear phones for a self-guided tour on a very informative tour. You can go thru almost the entire ship, seeing how the crew members ate, slept, worked on-board. You can go on the flight deck and see many different types of aircraft and sit in a few for photo ops. Do not miss the 20 minute or so narrated tour of the captain's bridge and control tower. Retired Navy personnel all donate their time, knowledge and expertise to make your tour memorable. They are a great group of individuals who love this ship. It is great for the young people to see and understand the hardships that were endured by many young men and also for the older people who might of been on the ship at one time or another to reminisce.

They have flight simulators the kids and adults may ride with an additional price of $6-$8. They also have a gift shop with many options for purchases. Food can also be purchased on-board.

Very good value and support our military!!

“Midway magic”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

What a wonderful attraction. Big and Little Puddle were completely overwhelmed by the number of aircraft aboard the Midway and it was very interesting to see how people lived aboard the aircraft carrier. The volunteers on the ship are a font of knowledge and really bring it to life. It was also nice that it's a hands on museum and that children (and adults) can sit in some of the aircraft. Little Puddle really enjoyed the flight simulator (additional fee).
