“Take the kids here...come here”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

This is where I always bring out of town guests, especially if there are kids. It's a fun, healthy and interesting way to enjoy nature, San Diego and celebrate the ocean. Great place for a walk, contemplate life and thank God you are alive. Always clean and well preserved. Thank you San Diegans for continuing to keep this a great place to visit.

“A five star experience for us!”
Reviewed 19 February 2012

My husband and I love tide-pooling. Cabrillo National Monument is an exceptional place to see tide pools teeming with marine life. We were not so fortunate as to see an octopus or sea stars here. That would have taken a lower tide but if you look close enough and take the time to really enjoy, you'll see limpets, top snails, chitons, barnacles and California mussels - even at the higher tides. Shore crabs, aggregate anemones and beautiful blue solitary anemones are plentiful here. Do yourself a favor and study up a bit before your trip to the tide pools. I've seen people just glance around and leave, thinking there's nothing to see. We're always amazed at what really is living in those puddles of water!

“An awesome and educational experience”
Reviewed 18 January 2012

This was a great way to spend a day! The area is beautiful and the tide pools were full of life! It is easy to get to the pools with just a brief walk. The visitor's center and lighthouse just up the hill were great too!

“Check tide schedule first”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

We went out to the tide pools and the monument. Unfortunately, it was high tide so none of the tide pools were visible. So, I recommend that you check the schedule before going unless you plan to spend several hours at the park, then you should be okay. The small museum is marginally interesting. The best part of the park is the views of the ocean side and the bay side. The cost is only five dollars for regular cars, which is a good bargain. There are nice walking trails as well. All in all, it is worth a visit.
