“Great Location and lovely staff”
Reviewed 12 April 2012

Stayed at XV Beacon for a few nights at the start of April. We had a corner sweet which was a lovely large room, great furnishings, however the fire did not work. This was pointed out to us on arrival and we were told it would be fixed, but it wasnt. It didnt particularly bother us as we had great weather during our stay and were out and about for most of the time. The road outside was quiet in the day, but did seem noisey around 4.30 am as I think rubbish was being collected. That may have been worse as we were on one of the lower floors and possibly we were light sleepers at that time of day having flown in from the UK. The bed was exceptionally comfortable.

The staff are very helpful (other than the fire) and friendly. The hotel is lovely and its central location means that almost all of Boston is within a short walk.

We made use of the free car service on 1 of the 3 times we tried to use it, the other times it was already booked so I suggest you get your requests in early.

Room Tip: Corners suites are large and luxurious, but maybe request a room on a higher floor to avoid the earl...

My husband and I recently spent several days at this conveniently located hotel in Boston. It is steps from the Boston Common and Charles Street. You really get a sense of the city right outside your door. The lobby is intimate with a hip vibe. The steakhouse "Moo" is just off the lobby. We had dinner there and it was terrific. They also provide 24 hour room service to the hotel. Our suite was very large with a beautiful fireplace that we could turn on and off by a bedside switch. Beautifully decorated including a setee with comfy cashmere throw. A house car (Lexus) and driver are available to guests. We had rented a car so we didn't use this amenity. I highly recommend this hotel for couples looking for a romantic boutique-style hotel located where you can spend lots of time walking around a beautiful old upscale neighborhood or shopping area as well as strolling around Boston Common and its surrounding areas.

We stayed at the XV at the beginning of our vacation in October of last year. The bar has now been set! The room was comfy and beautiful, bathroom deluxe, setting unbelievably convenient, helpful but not intrusive staff, room service breakfasts, and a car service to take us almost anywhere we wanted to go! Unfortunately, we compared every other place we stayed on our vacation to the XV and came away with "...well, it's not the XV".

My only comment would be it would have been nice to have access to a cup of coffee, either in the room or the lobby (hey, we're from Seattle!) - still, it was the best place that we have stayed and look forward to visiting there again soon.

Room Tip: We were on the fourth or fifth floor above the entrance. The road is a sleepy two lane but the high...

We've stayed here before and we were once again impressed. We were welcomed warmly and our room was so nicely appointed! We had a corner room with a fireplace. Every detail was considered-comfy robes, toiletries, delicious cookies, exquisite sheets....I could go on and on. The concierge was very helpful. We used the car service a number of times and found it to be extremely convenient. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in a warm friendly place in Boston.
