My wife and I stopped in to have dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House in Boston on Friday evening. The place was very busy and we had to wait for our table to be ready so we decided to have a drink at the bar. Half way through the drink we were told that our table was ready and we were escorted to the dining room that was absolutely packed!

The young lady that was escorting us asked if we would prefer a quitter room and we both said "yes" right away and were brought to a smaller and more intimate room that was perfect! We sat and finished our drinks and were introduced to our waiter who asked if we were going to get a bottle of wine and we did.

We then ordered dinner and everything is al a carte and that was OK for us. We ordered a shrimp cocktail and it was EXCELLECT! We ordered the fillet mignon and it too was EXCELLENT. We then ordered creamed spinach and grilled asparagus which was EXCELLENT.

If you are getting the impression that this restaurant was excellent, you are correct! Not a place to go every week but for a special occasion, book it on line or call the restaurant directly for a classy time in the city!

I will return the next time we are in Boston! Great job Ruth's Chris Steak House!

Of course, no diet food in steak house. All dishes, sides and entrees are very rich. Sweet Potato Casserle tastes like dessert. Cream spinach is rich, but no taste. A couple of people in my party had to send their steak back because they were rare instead of medium rare. Serve staff is good.

There are so many great things about this restaurant that we love. First and foremost the food is excellent, tender cuts of beef, fresh seafood, great chef, always cooked to perfection and a great wine list ! We enjoy the ambiance here the most of any Ruth Chris we have visited being housed in the Old City Hall on School Street in Boston with it's high ceilings, elegant ambiance and old world charm it's always inviting and relaxing. These features were as good on this visit as our previous visits but we ran into a serious problem this time! Four loud, inebriated, obnoxious men were seated right next to us in an already crowded dining room. They were so loud that we couldn't speak with our friends over the noise. Patrons around the room were staring at them and watching the staff to see what would be done and absolutely nothing was done!!! Nothing at all!!! We suffered through our two hour meal in silence as we couldn't talk over them anyway and after a while just gave up trying. We've eaten in some of the finest restaurants in the world run by famous chefs and we don't know what staff does in this situation but they must do something as we've never experienced anything like this! Usually patrons enjoy choices from the excellent wine and drink lists but are never so loud that they drown out the entire dining room. During our Boston stay we only had a few nights free to enjoy good restaurants and this was one of our choices. Not only did we feel our money was wasted but also our valuable time as we were so upset it ruined our evening and our meal plus I left with a splitting headache. When you look at the large number of great restaurants in Boston that we could have patronized and enjoyed ourselves we were duly upset that we chose this one! We each spoke with the maître on the way out and asked who was managing the restaurant that evening. She said she could hear them from the front entrance reception station and had called the assistant manager who apparently didn't care as he did nothing. She was very embarrassed and apologetic but it didn't change our ruined evening. Ruth Chris is a first class franchise with first class chefs and they really don't deserve to have poor management like this running the Boston restaurant. There was no need for the dining room to be crowed the way it was as there was an empty dining room adjacent to the main one not being utilized at all and the tables in the main dining room were packed far too tightly together with chair backs an inch from touching. The wait service wasn't great but it wasn't their fault as there were only two waiters for the entire dining room. They were doing their best under bad circumstances. We have eaten here several times and other Ruth Chris and always had a good experience. I can't imagine in my wildest dreams that we will ever return to this particular location.

Excellent meal Filet Mignon was excellent, my Two sides were enough for two people. The corn with jalapeño peppers was the best tasting corn I have ever had.

Excellent meal and service. Prices are a little steep, but well worth it, aren't you? The whole place smells like sweet butter, steak and lobster melt in your mouth. A must go, for whatever occasion.
