“Great stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2012

Lovely hotel, great location, and well run. Everything functioned perfectly. Additionally, Andrew at the front desk is amazing! Highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Boston.

Dear manydogsandkids,

Thank you for staying with us! Although I will have to remove this review so Andrew does not get overconfident, we truly appreciate the kind words.

Take care,

Location location location. This hotel is a stylish refuge from the bustle of Boston, ideally situated for sightseeing on foot and stopping back by for water, bathroom breaks and short rests if you don't feel like trudging around all day. During the week are many business people and on the weekend couples and foreign tourists. Probably not the best kid oriented place, which suited us just fine. We always request a quiet room and got a nice king room near the top floor, which though not large, was extemely comfortable, quiet & beautifully and tastefully appointed. We would have paid to upgrade to a larger room, but that came only with a queen bed, which didn't seem worth it. Our room had everything we needed, and with the nice big window had an open feeling. We breakfasted twice at the hotel restaurant but were disappointed in the service the first morning. Shouldn't have to wait that long for a cup of coffee that arrived lukewarm. Eggs benny were pretty tasty though, and we went back the next morning to split them before heading to the airport. We never used concierge service or had any free wine, but plenty of guests did. The lobby is small and a little cold feeling, and the bar feels remote being upstairs, but that made no difference to us. I like how consistent the Kimpton hotels are, with the fruited water, the wine hour , the the nice smelling lobby and the comfy beds. We loved this hotel and would definately return some day.

Dear TulsaTraveler43,

"Stylish refuge." I love it. Sounds straight out of a travelogue featured on a premium cable station, narrated by a classically trained british actor.

The view always gets top mention, but thank you for bringing attention to its underrepresented partner - the window. Well-insulated, large, and they open! Pretty rare in my experience with urban hotels.

Thank you,

Mark

Great lcation, nice rooms a bitt small, helpful and friendly concierge Thomas! Request for a late check out for a couple of hours was rejected, allowed only 1 hour, this was disappointing.

Dear L_Oriental,

Thank you for staying with us on your recent business trip to Boston. I am terribly sorry we could not do more to accommodate your late stay request. It is always a delicate balance of assisting our departing guests while making sure our arriving guests have a room available to check in to at 3pm. The bright side is that we always have a locked storage room at our disposal to keep your bags until you are ready to depart the city.

Regards,

Mark

We stayed here with friends and had a great time, it is located in the heart of everything! Here are a few tips for staying here:
Join their Rewards Program, go on the web site it takes three minutes but you then get free Wi Fi and they let you "raid the mini bar" which means you get $10.00 of free whatever, which is always nice.
Free Wine tasting at 4PM very nice!
The front staff are so warm and friendly that within 2 hours they knew our names as well as our friends! I told them it was my birthday and they sent up a bottle of bubbly and a very nice card!

All in all great location, great staff, very clean rooms, if you can ask for a corner room on the 17-19th floor, there are only a few but what a view!

Room Tip: Oh no pool which is surprising but it is a smaller hotel and dont eat the breakfast here because the...

Dear NorthjerseyWayne,

Thanks for staying with us (as well as the tips). Raid the minibar is pretty great - partially because it removes some of the guilt of your choices. We love the eagerness regarding wine hour - but please don't think you missed it if you come at four and no one's there. We actually do not get started until 5pm. We tried to work a pool into the plans, but unfortunately it was that or the HVAC equipment on the roof. We went the "traditional" route. And sorry to hear about breakfast in KO. Usually they do an outstanding job (brioche french toast?!) - but missed the mark this time.

Safe travels,

Mark

We stayed at the Nine Zero for three nights during a break to celebrate my 'special' birthday. Unfortunately, we had two children in tow. I say unfortunately because the hotel is ideal for a romantic break with that special someone. That being said, the children loved the hotel too - although not specifically a children's hotel, they were given a goodie bag and made to feel welcome by the hotel staff. The hotel is conveniently situated for the Harbour and the Freedom Trail passes right outside the front door. Highly recommended.

Dear janthepan,

Your 'special' birthday really has me intrigued...although it is probably poor form to ask more details. Fortunately, it sounds like it lived up to the hype - except for those pesky kids. I hear it usually takes about 18 years before they are willing to give you that alone time. In the mean time - we can always assist with babysitting services to allow no encumbrances while enjoying a romantic harborside dinner or carriage ride around the common. Just ask our amazing concierges.

Best,

Mark
