Owner description: This tony neighborhood--one of the two most expensive residential areas in Boston--started as a bay. The bay was filled in during the 19th century to create the area now known by the name Back Bay. The area is known for its Victorian brownstones, the Boston Public Library, shopping, office high rises and upscale hotels.

The Back Bay of Boston is where the action is. Wonderful hotels, fabulous restaurants, shop till you drop, Overwhelming HISTORY everywhere. I loved it. Took a bay cruise, checked out "Old Ironsides", said hello to the Boston Commons. What's not to like?

Back Bay is safe, live, residential and industrial neighborhood of Boston. It is most famous for its rows of Victorian brownstone homes — considered one of the best preserved examples of 19th-century urban design in the United States — as well as numerous architecturally significant individual buildings, and cultural institutions such as the Boston Public Library.
It is also a fashionable shopping destination (especially Newbury and Boylston Streets as well as Copley Place mall) and home to some of Boston's tallest office buildings, the Hynes Convention Center, and numerous major hotels. Other big sign of district is Trinity Church which consider today as one of the finest buildings in America and National Landmark.
Also you can visit the street market with fresh fruits and veggies, honey, bread etc. I liked the numerous cafes and restaurants, 2 stories Marshall's store and Nordstrom Rack. If you are planning to drive in this area be prepared to traffic due bussiness hours (and I guess all the time). Couple metro stations are here but we used Back Bay station which was the closest to our hotel. Nice, convenient, close to center (10 minutes walk distance), safe area to stay at Boston during your trip.

The Back Bay area in Boston is quite beautiful. There are lots of restaurants to choose from and nice little shops to shop at, too. A nice park to visit, as well.

So we spent a week in Boston recently and stayed in Back Bay.
The streets are so well laid out and the front gardens are so well tended. Great for shopping and eating out. There's so much to see and we always felt safe. Worth a stroll around.
